Take any viewpoint in the hills, build a beautiful sculpture, weave a story based on forklore ...and there you have a tourist spot to flaunt! This is what an usual story for every hillstation. Same goes with Magnolia Sunset Point at Netrahat.
Netarhat is a hill station in Latehar district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Netarhat comes under the tag of lesser-known tourist places owing mostly because it is populated by tribal people. Netarhat is around 156 km to the west of Ranchi and only way to reach there is via Road. It is also referred to as the "Queen of Chotanagpur".
Infact when travelling by road from Ranchi to Netarhat, you will cross seven hills on your way.
One of the main attraction of Netrahat Hill station is the Magnolia Sunset Point. Right on top of hill. A scenic sunset point from where there is a spectacular view of the sun going down.
Though our experience to the place doesn't goes well. Thanks to clouds and bad weather, we hardly able to enjoy the sun setting behind one of the hills. Famed for its beautiful sunsets, Magnolia Point has a memorial describing Magnolia’s ill-fated love story.
Netarhat used to be summer retreat for serving British officers during colonial time. The chalet is famous in local folklore as the house where a British Governor’s daughter, Magnolia, fell in love with a local tribal man who worked as a household help. She eventually committed suicide by jumping off a cliff on horseback to be united with her lover at what is today called Magnolia Point.
To commonsorate the story, the cliff is well maintained for tourist attraction. A sculpture of a horse and one of a boy and a girl, and near it a few small sculpture of animals nearby made up the place beautiful.
There were many elevated platform made by the tourism.department, the capture the beauty of the sunsets. Tourist visit the place and spend some quality times watching the scenic beauty of sunset.
Eventually to remind the folklore, each of the elevated stand walls were depicted with sculpture of the boy and girls. Like a story teller.

Magnolia Sunset Point is hardly a 10-15 drive through the nearby hotels. And another the major attraction to reach the sunset point is that it passes through Pine Forest which is in itself a beautiful and calm place. I couldn't stop myself from getting down and get few shots in middle of the dense forests.

In case if you would be checking the I telnet then you will find some beautiful snaps of sunset, with their tree.
The place is now a well mIntained picnic spot. Apart from enjoying the scenic sunset behind those hill, tourist visit the place to have tea and coffee alongwith it the tourism department also placed few swings for the kids.
Anyhow I missed to take some pictures of the chalet house (house of magnolia), owning to covid-19 restriction, but the beauty of the building speaks a lot from the distant.
Atlanta, we enjoyed there a lot. Even though we missed the scenic sunset due to clouds. We take some memory of the old story that make the place a beautiful tourist destination. Also Magonolia so called love story remain alive till eternity.
It was a memorable visit and we take with many fun moments of the place. We spend quite a good amount of time and then see of the couple as it was getting dark, and we have to reach our room.
Not a Famed destination. But it is a very popular among the localites. The sunset though is as great a sight as it can be anywhere. If you want to see the sunset plan being there early based on the season otherwise you will miss the event.
The best time to visit the place is anytime during the year. As it is situated on hill top, the weather always remain cool most of the time. A good place to enjoy some romantic moment with some romantic forklore.
