in Pinmapple11 months ago

After some tough times at home, my brothers insisted me to go for an outing. They wanted me to get out of the situation which was created due to loss of my Dad. They pulled me for a road trip to nearby historical places. I was not aware of place before, but on reaching the spot I felt quite good and it does bring a good mood change. It was the "Tomb of SHER SHAH SURI"

From the land of Maratha, Gupta, Mauryas it is pretty hard to remember all prominent ruler of India. SHER SHAH SURI is one of such name who met with an unfortunate end to his life after meeting an accident while handling Gun powder.

Sher shah suri was the founder of the Suri dynasty after defeating the Mughal emperor Humayunh in 1540. His capital was in Sasaram in the modern day of Bihar.

Sher SHAH is trully regarded as one of the brilliant national heroes of India. SHER SHAH suri original name was Farid Khan. Apart from the brave intelligent tactful military genius with screwed political foresight, he was a person of extra ordinary skills and ability in civil administration. Sher SHAH was a great builder too. His most outstanding contribution to the field of architecture is the construction of his own Tomb. Situated in Sasaram a small town of Bigar, the Tomb is a great combination of soberness and elegance. The Tomb is regarded as one of noblest specimen of afghan architecture in India.

Situated in one of the small town in India, this place is not so popular among tourist. The tomb can be reached through barrow city lanes and standing just beside the street. But looking from outside it appeared to be a hidden gem with some stunning indo-islamic architectire beauty.

Once uou get inside the compound, you will.find yourself in a completelly differrnt zone. There is an enyry ticket of Rs.25/- for indians while the government has fixed Rs.300/- for foreign natuonals. This tomb is situated in the middle of a huge pond spread over an area of 22 acres, whose length (east to west) is 1130 feet and width (north to south) is 865 feet.

To reach to the main tomb, the vistor has to pass through the small domed tomb of Sher Shah’s concierge. Situated right in front of the entrance. It is small tomb too with some nice stone built up
architecture.

It has too a graveyard right in middle of the architecture.

The exit gate of this tomb will take ypu towards the main tomb. Which passes through the vast water body. The passage will give some breathtaking views with some cool waves. I was expecting some fish inside the big pond, and rightly find huge numbers floating up in the water.

On a hot summer afternoon, it appeared to be a long walk down to the other end. But athe architectural beauty right in front will pull you to admire the place.

The other side have some steep staircase, that will take ypu to to the actual tomb place. No wonder, even in hot and humid condition, we were thrilled to explore the place. Climbing up on the stair does take some heavy toll on our tired legs.

But looming behind from the top, does give some good sight to cherish. Lush green outings and a small tomb that we just passed through.

The tomb has some huge entrance gates. It does gives us some good historical archtectureship of the afghans. Who managed to built such tombs for the generation to remember.

Inside the tomb we find multiple graveyards of the royal family. The main graveyard of Sher SHAH Suri has a green sheet covered with many people offerings and posting near the structure. The other looks like miniature graveyard. The locals say, they all the family member of the great ruler.

Visitors were not allowed to go upstairs, infacr there were none to view the upper structure. The tomb has a hollow interior with open spaces all around. The tomb does leave some long lasting impression and took us to our unforgettable history. The place is meant to be admired.

Many people belive that the structure is the base for Taj Mahal. The design of Taj Mahal resembles quite similar to this place. I do find many similarity too. But the visit does help me recover from the pain and sorrow of my Dad.

The place meant for the history lovers, there were many such places which happened to be lost in many places. I loved the place a lot.

Peace!!
