Taxco de Alarcón - The white fairytale mountain town in the north of Guerrero [EN/DE]

Hello everyone! Today I would like to tell you about the second stage of our Mexico road trip. Over a three-hour drive, we changed from one "Pueblo Magico" to another - more precisely from Tepoztlán to Taxco de Alarcón. The drive was very pleasant and the views of the Mexican countryside were always wonderful. Our first destination in Taxco was a lookout point where we could get a first overview of the city.

Hello zusammen!

The viewpoint is very popular and actually always well visited, although it is not quite easy to reach. You have to climb some steep mountain roads to get to the huge statue of Christ that towers over the city. But the breathtaking views of Taxco and its surroundings compensated for the effort and were definitely worth it.

After that, we continued directly by car to the city centre and this is where the real challenge began. Squeezing through the narrow, winding streets with the car was often a matter of millimetres, especially when we encountered oncoming traffic. However, we finally found a parking garage and were able to start our sightseeing tour. To say it right away: We were totally amazed by Taxco!

It was simply dreamlike to walk through the lively, cobblestoned streets and alleys of the old town, to admire the white house facades and to let the unmistakable charm of Taxco work its magic on us. We enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the city until deep into the night. By the way, Taxco is apparently the VW Beetle capital of the world. I have never seen so many Beetles in any other place. Even the taxis are all white VW Beetles, which blend harmoniously into the romantic cityscape.

It's no wonder that this town, located about halfway between Mexico City and Acapulco, is so popular with travellers, and if you've read the last few paragraphs, you won't be surprised to hear that I highly recommend you visit Taxco de Alarcón yourself. The next day, my girlfriend and I went on to a Mexican metropolis, which I will tell you about in the next article.

See you soon!/Bis bald!
Stefan

Years ago I lived in Mexico and went with my roommate to Taxco. The only reason we went was to buy silver because we heard it was cheap there. I remember buying a few items and I still have them! I don't remember much else about the town but staying in a small, older hotel while we were there. Your photos make it look amazing. I'd love to go back someday! Thanks for a trip down memory lane!

Thank you so much for your nice words! I'm happy that you like my photos! And yes, Taxco is famous for it's silver. Still we focussed more on the sightseeing and didn't buy any silver stuff :-D

Mexico. One of the country I love to visit someday 😁

I can highly recommend you to do that, it's so amazing :-)
