Hey guys! After showing you many photographic results of my trip to the USA in the last few weeks, it's now time for a travel report again, because I've started a new journey in the meantime. Already in 2020, before the pandemic, I had the plan to spend a few summer weeks in Georgia. After two years of waiting, it finally worked out and I'm already exploring the capital Tbilisi. In this article, I'll tell you what impressions I've already gathered here.

Hallo Leute!

After a six-hour journey from Kutaisi airport, I finally arrived in Tbilisi and moved into my accommodation in the city centre. My first walk led me directly to the building I was looking forward to the most. The wave-shaped Peace Bridge can probably be described as the city's modern landmark. Directly behind it you can find the Rike Park. Here, a few steps lead to a viewpoint from which you can get a first overview of Tbilisi.

Tbilisi is a very vibrant and lively city, but this is not true for all areas, even in the centre. During my walk, large parts of the old town seemed very uninhabited and empty. Many buildings are in a state of disrepair, while others are being renovated or new buildings are being constructed. Some construction sites cover entire streets. But the centre is relatively compact, so you are never far from the next busy street or interesting sight.

The Georgian capital is located in a valley surrounded by mountains. Therefore, there is no lack of viewpoints that offer many different perspectives of the city. The cable car ride to the Nariqala Fortress is particularly recommended. At the equivalent of 2.5 euros, the round trip is a real bargain. The views of the city, the castle ruins and the surrounding countryside are really worth every penny. The value for money in Tbilisi is generally very good. There is a good reason why the city has become a hotspot for digital nomads.

The city's most popular promenade is Rustaveli Avenue. It leads from Freedom Square on the edge of the old town to the more modern parts of the city and is lined with many interesting magnificent buildings. Back on the banks of the Kura River, I was able to admire another modern architectural highlight of the city, the Public Service Hall.

Tbilisi is a city where you simply feel very comfortable. The people are friendly, the weather is mostly sunny and you can find new interesting things to discover on every street corner. The fantastic Georgian cuisine should also not be left unmentioned. I am enjoying my stay here and will continue to tell you about my impressions.

See you soon!/Bis bald!

Wow, that's awesome! Thanks a lot @pinmapple and @livinguktaiwan 🙏😊

Very nice to see this city from your perspective. It kind of feels like they are still trying to find a balance between futuristic architecture and their old city heritage. Is this true from your perspective?

Thank you! Yes, they are doing a great job with integrating modern architecture into the cityscape, just many of the ancient buildings still need some renovation. But also this is in the process.
