A few hours hike to Scropoasa Lake in the middle of the Bucegi Mountains, Romania

20230917_125226.jpg

I am glad to have you as visitors of my post, as I wrote in the last post in this community I visited two amazing places in the Bucegi National Park in Romania, in the last post I wrote about the 7 Springs Waterfall where the purest water in the world springs from, and in today's post I want to share with you the hike I did at Lake Scropoasa.

Lake Scropoasa is an artificial lake created to produce electricity, it was built in 1929 has a length of 2.5km and a maximum depth of 15 meters (more information can be found here).

I did some searches on the internet and found quite a lot of information on how to get to the lake, at least in recent years Lake Scropoasa has been very visited especially for the turquoise color of its water, that's what we were hoping to find here, but as I wrote in the last post the weather didn't hold with us.

The starting point for the hike to the lake is from the Zanoaga hut, surprise when we got there everything was a construction site, it seems that they were building a new bridge over the river, the car was somewhere on the side of the road.

It gave us little trouble to find the right way to the forest entrance, we walked along the side of the road then crossed a river and through abandoned buildings until we passed the Zanoaga campsite which at first glance looks abandoned.

The cottages in the campsite look very nice but as I wrote above I haven't seen anyone here but dogs, I can't figure out the reason why this place is a ghost.

Ready we are on the right track and start hiking through the forest on rocky paths, at the beginning of the trail we saw many information signs about the animals that we could probably see in the forest, I was a little scared when I saw the sign warning us about the presence of bears.

The difficulty of the trail is medium, honestly I didn't find it harder than that to go in the right direction we had to follow the sign of a blue cross.

The route on the rocky paths took us to a fairytale landscape, after walking for a while we encountered some parts with more difficulty, we had to descend holding on to some chains but there was a spectacular part when we crossed the river on some suspension bridges.

In this picture this very interesting tree caught my eye which is not just like a candle but shows us that not all trees in a forest are the same.

We also drank spring water, we also took it to go, after a hike through the forest a few sips of this clear water are welcome.

Let's continue our hike through the woods.

After more than an hour and a half we arrive near the hydropower station where we find a place where many goodies are prepared.

In this cauldron corn was boiled.
20230917_123722.jpg
But we chose to eat something traditional, Bulz, bulzul is a ball of mamaliga with salted cheese inside. This mamaliga lump is wrapped in aluminum foil, then placed on the grill.

We had to share our food and with this cute dog, look at the look on his face, we melted.

Let's continue our way to the most famous place for pictures here near the lake.

It is the most sought after bridge from where you can supposedly capture the most beautiful pictures from here, let's see if it is so.

I found the place.

Today, unfortunately, due to the rains, the lake no longer had that turquoise color, but it was still amazing.

Such a beautiful place, we loved seeing your post, @triplug! I would enjoy walking on that hanging little bridge 😍

I'm so glad you enjoyed even for just a few minutes looking at this amazing place, and we loved it too.
Indeed, crossing those suspension bridges was a lot of fun, especially when two people were crossing at once.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

I like the A shape tinyhouses ! and the fabulous gorges also, of course,
Thank you.

Those A-shaped huts were from the Zanoaga campsite and yes they are extremely useful.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Those cottages are really nice, probably because of communication or transportation, people don't go there or maybe it was not the right season. Very unique place you have shared with us. Thanks...

Once again I am so glad you enjoyed this post.
Have a wonderful week ahead.

A part of me wants to see a bear in real life but I know they're dangerous. Seeing that sign might terrify you because a bear attack is the worse a traveler can experience. I like that there's a station selling goodies in the forest!

It is not very advisable to meet a bear face to face, because they are wild animals and we are their guests in the forest.
A few years ago I had the opportunity to see some bears in reality, I was on my way to an accommodation in the mountain area of Harghita County, Romania, and these bears were walking on the side of the road, but I saw them from the car, I didn't have the courage to get out of the car.
When we arrived there, at our accommodation, we were warned not to walk in the evening on the streets or in the forest, as we might be lucky enough to encounter bears.

Oh, I see. When you encountered the bear, did the bear do something like blocking the way? I wonder if there are domesticated bears. I don't know but they're really cute animals even though they're very dangerous.

Domestic bears do not exist or at least I have never heard of such a thing.
When we met those bears they were on the side of the road, they came down from the forest to the side of the road and here the tourists were feeding them, not a very well thought out thing because sometimes bears can become aggressive.

Oh, I think it's funny to imagine a domestic bear. Anyway, do all bears really attack humans in the road, I wonder.

Let's not forget that bears are wild animals and we humans are guests in their home, so sometimes they can become aggressive.
Here in Romania, there have been many bear attacks and, unfortunately, several deaths as a result of these attacks.
Bears have descended on the streets of cities in search of food, spreading panic and fear in the streets.

It's sad to think that bears are not social animals and they don't like being friends with humans. It must be a nightmare encountering bears. What I do not understand is why bears are portrayed as pets in movies and cartoons haha, at least they're domesticated there and not shown as a wild terrifying animal.

Wow! It's feels nice to inhale the fresh air of the forest, this content is amazing and the images that you provided is mesmerizing, I'm looking forward on your future blogs have a good day @triplug ❤️
