Carried on the wings of history at Princess Ljubica's Residence in Belgrade, Serbia

I am a great lover of history, this you already know, if you have visited my posts you have seen that I have many about fortresses and amazing historical places, they fascinate me and every time I am curious and eager to learn their history.
So on my last visit to Serbia's capital, Belgrade, I visited a few must-see sights here, including this Residence of Princess Ljubica.

The castle as I like to call it was not so hard to find it being located right in the center of town in a quiet area, the hardest part was finding a parking place for the car, after many minutes lost in traffic I managed to find a parking place about 350m away from the castle.

It was an April day with a beautiful even warm weather when we took to the streets of Belgrade to explore the city center but especially the Residence of Princess Ljubica, I searched the internet for more information about the location, I must admit that I did not find as much information as I expected.

In some places on these streets there were tables and chairs on the pavement where you could relax with a coffee, a tea or why not a red wine, this reminded me of Italy, the beautiful Italy that has remained in my heart.

But let's go back to the center of Belgrade where after a few hundred meters I see a sign indicating the direction to the castle, when I look to my left I see a chic building with a courtyard full of flowers with some interesting trees and an equally interesting entrance, I had reached the castle.

At the entrance I was greeted by a very nice person, but unfortunately she didn't know how to speak English, so we had a hard time understanding each other, I don't know how to speak Serbian, but eventually I got to some very nice ladies where I paid the entrance ticket, with them I could understand, they explained me how I can organize my visit here in order not to end up in the same place twice or more.

The entrance ticket cost 200RSD/1,69EUR/person, a small price compared to what you can see inside, because the castle is spectacular inside and not outside.
Also from the ladies at the cashier I received a map that helped me in exploring this place.

At first glance it looks like a castle built around 1830 and decorated mostly in the Ottoman (Turkish) style but I have seen some European influences, the Ottoman style is also what I like.

Have you ever seen embroidery and clothing from Ottoman times?
How beautiful they are, how well executed they are in bright colours.

I can say that since the entrance I was surprised how well everything was executed from the floor to the solid wood furniture, as I wrote above I saw many Ottoman influences.

The castle was decorated with a lot of paintings including Princess Ljubica, I saw the furniture which has been preserved extraordinarily well, the tables made of that solid wood in mahogany or cherry color, with chairs carved from the same solid wood, I must admit that I am not technically very good at explaining about these pieces of furniture, I see them through the eyes of a tourist and not a specialist and I tell you strictly my opinion as I see it.

More information about this place can be found here, worth reading.

Throughout the castle you will find information boards describing every object you will meet here, both in Serbian and English.
If you are very interested in the history of the objects and pretty much everything you can find here, I think you need a couple of hours to go through the whole ground floor plus the castle floor, more be careful where you step and don't touch the objects to avoid an accident (that's what the girls at the cashier told me).

How time flies sometimes!

Do you sometimes find when you spend quality time somewhere or with someone that it goes by extremely quickly?

Looking through every room and at just about every object, I didn't even realize how time passed so quickly, I was here for over two hours.
With my mind carried through so many cultures, with my memory filled with so many beautiful images, I head towards the exit of the castle, but not before passing by the cashier again and saying goodbye to the ladies there.

Dear travel lovers this was the Residence of Princess Ljubica in the heart of Belgrade, Serbia, I hope I could carry you on the wings of the wind to this place, I hope you enjoyed passing through here, and I thank you all for your support and until the next adventure that I do not know when and where it will be I say goodbye.

Yours @triplug!
