Ben says I'm a clown. Each time he does, I wonder if I have the unique jester's face with pink lips and pink hair with a silly smile on my face. A simple dialogue and he goes rolling on the floor with laughter. Okay, maybe I over exaggerated a little but then you get the point. I'm beginning to wonder if this is because I feed him too much or perhaps I really am a clown. I'll allow you to be the judge of that.
Yesterday was Sunday. After having my bath, I sat Infront of the dressing mirror to get ready for church. Ben walks to me with his hair brush.
Ben: You have so many hair combs and weavon brushes but you still end up using my hairbrush. Why?
Me: Please, give me your old toothbrush. You just bought a new one right?
Ben: Yes, why?
Me: I need to hold my edges with edge control and a toothbrush serves better.
Ben bursts into laughter. Was that funny?
After we got dressed, we left the house and it was drizzling. Ben decided to go back in and bring the umbrella along.
Ben: (opens the umbrella and covers me).
Me: (Praises him) Caring husband
Ben: (blushes) Your comfort is my concern
Me: yeah yeah! Air peace.
Ben bursts out laughing again. For those of you who aren't familiar with Air peace, it's an airline company in my country Nigeria.
On our way to church, we boarded a mini bus and Ben complimented my beauty. I was surprised because he almost never tells me I'm beautiful. Although, this is very typical of most African men. Each time I ask him to tell me I'm beautiful, he will ask me to tell him that he is handsome also. Now you can imagine the excitement when I heard him say I'm beautiful.
Me: (blushes) Awwwww!!! Thank you so much.
Ben: You are welcome. Did you see her face?
Me: (confused) whose face?
Ben: The little girl Infront of us. She's very beautiful.
Me: I thought you said I'm beautiful.
Ben bursts into laughter."I said the little girl is very beautiful.
Me: (wears a frown)
That wasn't funny at all to me.
Last night I decided to iron my uniform in preparation for work the next day. I am yet to resume after the wedding. Ironing is not one of my best chores.
Me: Baby, please help me iron my uniform
Ben: You know I hate ironing too, besides I'm very tired. I spent two hours in traffic today.
Me: Please now, ironing affects my waist.
Ben: It also affects my waist. What do we do about it?
Me: (sings in a loud voice) 🎵It must have been love, but it is all over now. It must have been good, but I lost it somehow 🎵
Ben bursts into laughter again and comes to take the iron from me.
I really don't know how I always crack him up. Is it that I am funny or he is so in love that he laughs at everything I say? Please, I'd like to know.
