One nice thing about making these comics is that it gives me a way to say funny, messed-up stuff that normally takes an experienced comedian or actor to deliver properly if doing in person. Still, if the "woke" culture trend continues the way it has, this is the kind of comic that will probably get me in a butt-load of cancel-culture trouble several years from now. The more politically correct a society becomes, the less able it is to recognize a joke, understand context, or develop anything that resembles a sense of humor. But hopefully I'll be a crypto-millionaire with "F*** You Money" by then. 😁

Oh yes, and an upvote for whoever first guesses the "cardio" movie reference to survival!

Lastly, I just realized that I made a mistake posting my last comic (#248) and didn't post it to the COMIC BOOKS fan/pro community. So if you missed it, you can find it here!

Personally, I'm still trying to figure out precisely what "woke" means! I'm thinking the definition revolves around, "A member of the politically correct cancel culture with heavy distrust of mainstream society." But I could be wrong. (I often am(

The original definition is something like "being aware of and striving to fight racism, sexism, discrimination against LGBTQ peoples, oppression of the disadvantaged, etc." A great goal, and yes there are still people who consider themselves woke who still hold true to that original goal. I'm not poking fun at those people. Unfortunately a vocal & powerful minority are steering the movement to focus purely on political correctness, punitive taxation of successful people & businesses (no matter whether they came by their wealth ethically or not), and creating a society where anyone who doesn't believe EXACTLY the things they say they should are the enemy. Even many of those who would be considered former staunch supporters of the original goals like J.K. Rowling eventually find themselves being targeted for relatively minor (and I thought pretty reasonable) differences of opinion. It is slowly becoming a cult, and if the twisted thought leaders of that movement get their way, it will be quite powerful with very negative social & political repercussions.

I think steevc is right in that those extremists are the minority of the whole, but unfortunately that minority are the ones controlling the platform and the message. In my mind it is THEY who have already ruined the term 'woke' before I ever started making fun of them. But that's just my opinion... 😕

Even a 'woke' like me has a sense of humour :) There will always be those who take things to extremes, but they are a tiny minority who happen to get the headlines.

If you have a good sense of humor, you CAN'T be truly "woke". 😁

By my definition, there is a big difference between being "woke", and working against racism, sexism, & other kinds of oppression. Being the latter is simply being a good human being. But "woke" is morphing into just another poisonous brand of identity politics that seeks to normalize intolerance for other perspectives, extreme political correctness, and seeking things to be outraged about so one can virtue signal their "woke-ness". One might say the extremists have co-opted the "woke" identity. The push to 'cancel' J.K. Rowling and classifying her comments last year as "trans-phobic bigotry" (instead of just being a different perspective) is a perfect example...

So no, you are not "woke". You are just a good human being... 😇

It's just a word. People put their own meanings on it and turn it into an insult. Finding the line between humour and abuse be tricky. The intention and how it's taken can differ. There are those who will weaponise this, but they are the minority. The internet tends to amplify their voices. Fighting this sort of discrimination can be as important as dealing with actual hatred. It's all fun and games :)
