Ah, Magnus the Magnificent... the only thing more extensive than his magical powers of illusion are the number of bridges in his community he's burned from his constant philandering & womanizing. A bit like Loki from the Marvel movies, if he were more focused on getting booty and less in ruling the world...

So anyhoo, our brave adventurers have finally made it to the big treasure room and are stuffing their sacks full of well-deserved loot. But like Sir Marko says, you want to be gentle when doing so... ask any guy, and he'll tell you a torn sack is the last thing you want. 😏

As with many things in D&D the real treasures often aren't in plain sight, and in the hill giant steading adventure that holds true with the illusions in the big treasure room. Which in this case never made a lot of sense to me... the average hill giant makes Homer Simpson look like a Mensa candidate. And hill giants DEFINITELY aren't smart enough to cast illusion spells.

The best explanation is that the same mysterious power behind the giant attacks set up the illusions for them, and maybe even helped them build their steading fortress. Who is this power behind the throne? My fellow D&D nerds familiar with the original adventure may think they know the answer, but nothing says I have to hold true to the D&D modules as they were written. Hey, gotta keep you guys guessing, right? 😉

Always suspecting a trap is a good strategy.

I finally saw the D&D movie on a plane this week. It was fun.

Naturally I rather enjoyed the D&D movie as well. I liked the fact the adventurers for the most part were not all-powerful badasses and actually had to really struggle and were pushed to their limits. While some of the John Wick type of movies with a super-skilled hero/heroes is entertaining in it's own way, it seems to be a bit overdone as of late.

Imperfect characters are more interesting. With some of these action movies it's hard to believe anyone could survive what the heroes go through with hardly a scratch.
