How to weasel out of an agreement...

So here we have a call back to #327 where Kimi the pony familiar gave Lady Karen directions to the treasure room... specifically, the lesser treasure room loaded with traps and hungry manticores (the latter which Kimi deliberately and gleefully neglected to mention). Hence Lady Karen's party being banged up, and more than a little pissed off. And of course then there's the issue of her party totally missing out on the main treasure room. Like with any typical Karen, there's nothing that will make her lose her mind more than getting anything less than she rightfully expects! 😏

Of course, some experienced D&D players might think her obsession with treasure might be at odds with her paladin class. But one of the many good things that came with the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons was several different types of paladin. Hers would be "The Oath of the Crown", a type of paladin focusing on order, civilization, and the word of law above all else. Seems to me if there was ever a career path more suited for a rules-lawyering, fussy, authoritarian, pain-in-the-butt Karen, it's GOTTA be this one.

It's also worth pointing out that from her perspective, she sees claiming more of the treasure for the glory of her god and her lord as part of her mission. ESPECIALLY when the others who are also competing for said treasure are the kind of adventurers who, in Nolan Bottlefist's own words, "are cool with looting ancient, holy temples for beer money". For her, keeping the treasure away from their grubby mitts is a moral imperative!

Lastly, it's almost certain that her patron god, Tyr, does see her actions as falling somewhat short of the paladin ideal. But unless given absolutely no choice he probably does what any intelligent person, or god, does when faced with a Karen: DO. NOT. ENGAGE. 😉

Who would want to be called Karen when people abuse your name? I'm not really into name-calling anyway.

!LOLZ

It's not really name-calling so much as a meme. Even the two people named Karen I know are pretty "meh whatever" about it. It's the difference between 'Karen' the name and 'a Karen' the meme. I imagine if you wait five or ten years the term will be fading into obscurity and then I'll have to explain to younger readers the (past) significance of the term... 😏

I know, but of course people will weaponise it, especially kids. Maybe that name will die out because of it. 'Gay' used to be a name too, but trends change.

I would like to thank my fingers.
I can always count on them
