There ARE no rules in war...

Yup, we're continuing the callback to Ash's almost supernaturally-pale Nordic skin. It's almost like Dazzler's mutant powers from the X-Men comics... with the added negative of making one generally less appealing to the opposite sex when spending a day at the beach!

Now playing paintball was one of those activities my friends and I did quite a bit in the 90's. Haven't done it recently but I know some things haven't changed, namely that getting hit can still sting quite a bit. Not always and usually not too much, but there's always those small percentage of hits that hurt enough to leave a bruise. And that's WITH the coveralls or full-body uniform used in paintball. So for Ash to go bare skin says a lot to his bravery... or just maybe it says more about how much he had to drink before the bachelor party crew started the paintball contest! 😉

And lastly, for those of you who are NOT gamers or familiar with World of Warcraft and don't understand the significance of Ash's war cry in the final panel, it's a callback to a classic bit of gamer history. Whether the gameplay in the video was actually scripted from the start (seems likely) or not, it is STILL hilarious and worth a watch at the link below... 😂

I've never done paintball, but my son has. It just doesn't appeal to me, but I guess it's like a real life video game. I can imagine those things would sting.

Paintball is more of an attempt to replicate what it's like to be in a gun battle (it's origins are well before first-person shooter video games). Usually focuses on tactics and teamwork as much (or more so) as how well you shoot, so those with infantry military training usually have an advantage over the rest of us. Jen's brother's bachelor party team were at a disadvantage to the Army guys on the other team, thus the need to break out the dirty tricks to even the odds! 😁

I can imagine that those who have played lots of first-person games would be into it. Before I joined my previous company they had a paintballing session. A fair few of the people were Israelis who had done military service, but it seems they were not that great at it. I just tend to avoid violence except for the odd game.

Heh... yeah, not all military service will translate well into paintball skills. It's only a minority of them that train combat skills much past basic training. That said, first-person shooters do translate to some degree. But an infantry soldier that's into first-person shooters? Yeah, he/she is going to be tough to beat...
