4 листопада працівники української залізниці відзначають своє професійне свято – День залізничника.
Я також не байдужий до цього свята, тому, що свого часу навчався в Київському електромеханічному технікумі залізничного транспорту.
Навіть встиг деякий час попрацювати по своїй спеціальності, тому розумію романтику цієї професії , її складнощі та відповідальність.
Романтика була навіть подвійна, тому, що працював на паромній переправі Іллічівськ- Варна, де залізничні вагони по рейкам заїжджати на корабель, а далі по морю переправлялись в Болгарію. Неможливо передати душевний стан, коли поєднується романтика залізниці з романтикою моря, а ще коли маєш до цього пряму причетність.
Багато моїх однокурсників працюють на залізниці по сьогоднішній день.
On November 4, Ukrainian railway workers celebrate their professional holiday - Railway Workers' Day.
I am also not indifferent to this holiday, because at one time I studied at the Kyiv Electromechanical Technical School of Railway Transport.
I even managed to work in my specialty for a while, so I understand the romance of this profession, its difficulties and responsibility.
The romance was even two-fold, because he worked on the Illichivsk-Varna ferry crossing, where railway carriages were brought to the ship along the rails, and then crossed to Bulgaria by sea. It is impossible to convey the state of mind when the romance of the railway is combined with the romance of the sea, and even more so when you are directly involved in it.
Many of my fellow students work on the railway to this day.

Від початку повномасштабної війни працівники Укрзалізниці під обстрілами проводять евакуацію, розвозять гуманітарну допомогу, лагодять пошкоджену інфраструктуру, відновлюють сполучення у деокупованих населених пунктах. Загалом станом на вересень Укрзалізниця евакуювала близько 4 млн пасажирів. Ще понад 8 тисяч залізничників служать у лавах ЗСУ.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrzaliznytsia employees have been conducting evacuations under fire, delivering humanitarian aid, repairing damaged infrastructure, and restoring communications in de-occupied settlements. Українська залізниця є однією за найбільших в Європі – вона об’єднує всі регіони нашої країни. Вона нараховує більш ніж півтори тисячі станцій, а її загальна довжина становить понад 30 тис. км. Щорічно цією транспортною артерією подорожує понад 500 млн пасажирів та перевозиться 300 млн тонн різноманітних вантажів. Укрзалізницю обслуговує 375 тис. професійних робітників.
Саме свято має давню історію. Вперше дата 4 листопада фігурує в 1861 році.
Саме тоді до Львова прибув перший потяг під назвою «Ярослав».

Every year, more than 500 million passengers travel through this transport artery and 300 million tons of various goods are transported. Ukrzaliznytsia serves 375,000 professional workers.
The holiday itself has a long history. The date November 4 appears for the first time in 1861.
It was then that the first train named "Yaroslav" arrived in Lviv.
На той час територія сучасної України входила до складу Австро-Угорської імперії, а новозбудована залізнична гілка об’єднала Відень, Краків, Перемишль та Львів.
В різні історичні часи дати святкування змінювались. 25 червня – при імператорі Миколі I, 28 липня - в часи радянського диктатора Йосипа Сталіна.
Після того, як Україна здобула незалежність у 1991 році, залізничні шляхи, що були прокладені на її території, перейшли у власність молодої держави.

In different historical times, the dates of the celebration changed. June 25 - under Emperor Nicholas I, July 28 - during the time of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
After Ukraine gained independence in 1991, the railways that were laid on its territory became the property of the young state.
У 1993 році за ініціативою тодішнього керівництва Державної адміністрації залізничного транспорту було прийнято рішення відзначати День залізничника у першу неділю серпня. Але 2002 року президент Леонід Кучма видав указ, за яким святкування перенесли на 4 листопада.
Варто додати цікавий факт – українські працівники залізничних шляхів відмічають своє професійне свято два рази на рік, влітку та восени. Така традиція склалася по причині того, що у лютому 2004 року в Києві під час Першої Конференції Профспілок залізничників та транспортних будівельників України, в черговий раз було прийнято рішення про перенесення свята на першу неділю серпня. Саме з тих пір обидві дати вважаються святковими.
Я з повагою ставлюсь до професії залізничника і щиро вітаю всіх з професійним святом!
In 1993, at the initiative of the then leadership of the State Administration of Railway Transport, a decision was made to celebrate the Day of Railway Workers on the first Sunday of August. But in 2002, President Leonid Kuchma issued a decree, according to which the celebration was postponed to November 4.
It is worth adding an interesting fact - Ukrainian railway workers celebrate their professional holiday twice a year, in summer and autumn. This tradition has developed due to the fact that in February 2004 in Kyiv, during the First Conference of Trade Unions of Railway Workers and Transport Builders of Ukraine, a decision was once again made to move the holiday to the first Sunday of August. Since then, both dates are considered holidays.
