In the center of Vinnytsia, on Soborna Street, there is a building that is strongly associated with the city and is one of its many business cards. This is the Savoy Hotel.
Будівництво готелю було розпочато у Вінниці в 1912 році і закінчено, ймовірно, в 1914 році. Архітектором був Г.Г. Артинов, а споруджувалася будівля на гроші вінницького купця Беріша Лехтмана.
Construction of the hotel began in Vinnytsia in 1912 and was probably completed in 1914. The architect was G.G. Artinov, and the building was built on the money of Vinnytsia merchant Berisha Lehtman.
Це перший шестиповерховий будинок у Вінниці. Спочатку будівля була забарвлена в колір слонової кістки, а вже на початку 1980-х років набула блакитного кольору. Багато що в цьому будинку було «вперше» для тихого провінційного містечка. Це - перший електричний ліфт, перший центральний водопровід і каналізація, перша подача гарячої води, перше електроосвітлення, і навіть перший асфальт перед головним входом.
This is the first six-storey building in Vinnytsia. Initially, the building was painted in ivory, and in the early 1980s it turned blue. Much of this building was "for the first time" for a quiet provincial town. These are the first electric elevator, the first central water supply and sewerage system, the first hot water supply, the first electric lighting, as well as the first asphalt in front of the main entrance.
Будівля до сих пір є домінантою центральної вулиці міста і являє собою стиль модерн, з елементами необароко. В готелі діяли ресторан, перукарня, різні магазинчики, в тому числі кондитерські та квіткові. А на шостому поверсі існував зимовий сад.
The building is still the dominant central street of the city and is a Art Nouveau style, with elements of neo-baroque. The hotel had a restaurant, hairdresser, various shops, including confectionery and flower. And on the sixth floor there was a winter garden.
Цікава історія відбувалась з готелем на початку двадцятого століття. У 1916-1917 роках в готелі жив «батько» вертольотобудування Ігор Сікорський. А в 1919 році в «Савой» розміщується уряд УНР і проживає, в тому числі Симон Петлюра.
An interesting story took place with the hotel in the early twentieth century. In 1916-1917, Igor Sikorsky, the "father" of helicopter construction, lived in the hotel. And in 1919 the government of the Ukrainian People's Republic was housed in Savoy and was inhabited, including by Simon Petliura.
Будівля зберіглася, хоча під час другої Світової війни сильно постраждала і була частково зруйнована. Дані фото були зроблені в 2009 році, а зараз готель виглядає вже по-іншому. Він був відреставрований і отримав свого первісного кольору.

Не знаю, як воно сприймалось сучасниками (весь цей модерн серед класицизму), а на наш погляд приблизно так само, як і класицизм.
Добре, що збереглось. Виглядає чудово, але я б повбивала людей, які вивісили кондиціонери, бо можна ж вивести в ветиляційну трубу це все!
Так, за кондиціонери можна і повбивати))
