My enjoyable Sunday in the Incredible city of the Netherlands, Amsterdam - Flower Market , Kalverstraat Walk and Asian Food

in Team Ukrainelast year

I rarely get a day off on Sunday, most Sundays I have to work. So, I don't have the opportunity to enjoy my weekend. Maybe once a month, I get the day off on Sunday. Anyway, today I had to work but after my work, I have decided to go to Amsterdam again. The city became my go-to city; I don't find anything much in Almere, and there is nothing to do compared to Amsterdam. Besides, Amsterdam is a very close city to Almere so people from Almere mostly spend time in Amsterdam.

Locals say that Almere is a good place to live in but for entertainment, and fun; Amsterdam is the best because there is so much to do. Anyway, when I go to Amsterdam, I often ended up walking into the familiar streets, I don't go far away. It's not like I am not interested in going into the new locations, I just feel comfortable walking in the familiar areas. Amsterdam often stays crowded so I also need to be very careful about my bag and wallet.

When I don't have anything to do or I want to feel relaxed I go to Amsterdam. I feel lucky because I got the chance to live near such a world-famous city where people around the world come to explore. People often find their comfort zone in Amsterdam where I go for nothing. There are so many things to do but because of my current situation or mentality, I don't find anything there that attracts me.

This time I went to a little bit far from the center of Amsterdam. The location is near "Kalverstraat" which is famous for shopaholics; I have found a nice flower market there.

The market is located near the canal...

Winter has arrived but garden lovers are getting ready for spring. So, the shops are full of tulips, Hydrangeas, Hyacinths, and many other flower seeds. Seeds might be the wrong word, I should say bulbs.

I don't have a place for gardening otherwise I would have bought something from there. I also found orchids as well but I had to resist buying the orchids because I don't have any place to keep them.

The dried flower roof was interesting to see...

It was really nice to see thousands of fresh flowers together. I was not familiar with many of them.

Seeing the price of flower seeds and bulbs have given me an idea of the expense of a spring garden. It is expensive... Really expensive...

Also, I was thinking about the Babuska (grandma's) of Ukraine, they would have loved this market...

This is one of the famous photo spots in Amsterdam, many people take pictures in front of it... The attractive part of this building is the window shutters, they stay open always...

The holiday season is here so Christmas decor shopping can be done from anywhere...The shops are ready for Christmas...

While exploring the market, I almost forgot that it was lunchtime. So, I went to a small Asian restaurant to find cheap lunch...

During lunchtime, local shops stay busy, very crowded and busy. So I had to wait sometime to get a table. I ordered fried chicken rice with vegetables, chicken dumplings, spring rolls, and white rice with stir fry beef for 2 persons. The total cost was 30 euros so, 15 euros per person. 15 euros for one person's lunch in the Netherlands is not so expensive and it's very hard to find a such deal in Amsterdam as well. Asian food restaurants in Amsterdam are very expensive...

The dumplings were very tasty as well as the spring rolls. The fried rice portion really surprised me, I couldn't finish the entire plate at all.

I have found the symbolic locks of several messages and wishes from the lovebirds... Why they were there I have no idea...

After lunch, it was time to go to Kalverstraat. I like this street because I find this street exclusive. Most of the time, the street remains crowded but I find the street interesting and nice. Probably because of the different shops I like this street because it is something related to my relaxing point.

The entrance of some shops was nicely decorated for the holiday season even the street was decorated as well...

I have nothing to say about the architecture and cityscape of Amsterdam so better you enjoy it by seeing the photos... Sometimes it is very hard to explain such a famous city...

At last, I ended up at a sweet shop. I wanted to buy some macarons. The store was small but full of different kinds of sweets and desserts.

My Sundays are different now. It is not like before when I used to be free and relaxed. Kharkiv life was diverse and life in the Netherlands is different, it's normal. Here a lot of opportunities are available. Tourist city always offers a lot of opportunities for people. I am not a tourist here but who am I!!! I need to figure that out...

This was my Sunday in Amsterdam, Netherlands...

Thanks for reading... See you soon...

I enjoyed the story of your tour, I liked what you said about the market and the façade of the building that has some doors always open caught my attention, that is not something I see elsewhere.

The part about being in winter, people prepare for spring, well, it filled me with a certain air of hope, it's something that I can't explain well, I suppose it's because of the symbolism, it's like saying that 'being in the night, we prepare for the dawn'.

As for the restaurant, I must say that I thought from the photo that the portions were generous :) I would like to eat in a place like that.

Definitely, it is rare and you won't see such kind of exterior somewhere else except in Europe. Europe is known for history and architecture so probably somewhere this kind of exterior can be seen, but this kind of view is rare...

Exactly...

The food was really good and tasty and the portion is admirable, one fried rice with a drink is enough for lunch for an adult... And also for fried rice and a drink, you are spending less than 10 euros...

I have a love lock bridge near me. It's just a way of showing your affection to your partner. I'm not sure whether it started in Paris maybe. Some people object to them, believing they are an eyesore and putting too much weight onto the bridge. The old romantic in me loves them!

Exactly, I heard about coin throwing as well. All I know is that the locks symbolize love with promises... Interesting to be honest, it's all about people's beliefs...

Yes, I like a wishing well. Sometimes they collect the money for charity. It's better than lying in a pool of water. 😊

Seems to be many stalls in the flower market. Should get good business with the holidays coming.

Ya, it is a big flower market, and considering the crowd of Amsterdam, I think their business is going well during the holiday season...

Good luck to them.

Yea...

It was a nice tour, with very good photographs, the place is beautiful. The custom of ensuring the love of couples by placing padlocks or tied ribbons, I have seen it in several countries, but I have never known where the tradition began

In Kharkiv, we had a similar place called "Lover's bridge" where before or after getting married, couples used to come there for vows and promises... That bridge had a history...

I have seen it in several countries, but I have never known where the tradition began

I also don't know how this tradition began and seeing it in Amsterdam made me curious as well...

The flower market is fantastic! I realized that I miss flowers )) And Amsterdam :) Thanks for the great photos!

It was really nice to explore this flower market, I wish I had a place for gardening. I would love to have tulips for my garden :(... You should visit Amsterdam again :D :D... This time with Nick :D

We will, one day ❤🌹

Ya one day and I hope that day will come soon...
