Three months ago, I had to take a trip due to my father-in-law's health, which led me to be away from my children. For me, it was very difficult. Many people told me: "Why do you worry so much if they are grown up?" My eldest daughter is 23 years old and my youngest son is 19. During this time, I had to celebrate their lives from a distance, and as a mother who has never been separated from them, it was very sad. From the moment it dawned, I felt my heart crumple. And it wasn't just me and my husband who were affected by the distance; they were affected too, and much more.
Even though they are as old as they are, they still remain by our side, and I thank life for that, because the day we least expect them to lift their wings and go their own way. My children will always be my babies, so I will see them all my life. Upon returning to our city, the first thing I did was to snuggle with them in my bed to watch movies as usual.
I told them we would go out the next day to enjoy a good time together. My daughter told me that some murals had been inaugurated in the historic center of Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela. I told them that was perfect, I had already seen in networks how nice the area was and that I would like to go.
So we started our walk, beginning in the heart of the city to enjoy those beautiful murals, which represent so much history. Really, everything was beautiful; the tour was worth it. There we laughed, took pictures and then headed to the best shopping mall in our city, Hiper Galeria.
The drive from the old town to the mall is about 20 minutes. We enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city. God, how much I missed all this: my children and my beloved Cumaná. Upon arrival, we found a dance in honor of the Virgen del Valle, patron saint of Oriente. There we enjoyed a moment and continued moving from store to store until we reached our destination: some delicious ice cream.
That moment filled my soul. Being with the ones I love the most and continuing to create moments with them is the most beautiful thing I have in life. My children are my best friends and confidants of adventures. Moms and dads, while you have the opportunity, always enjoy your children, no matter how old they are. Remember that life is fleeting, and there is nothing more beautiful than your children being your friends and confidants.

Desde hace tres meses, tuve que realizar un viaje motivado por la salud de mi suegro, lo que me llevó a estar lejos de mis hijos. Para mí, fue muy difícil. Muchos me decían: "¿Por qué te preocupas tanto si ellos ya son mayores de edad?" Mi hija mayor tiene 23 años y mi hijo menor, 19. Durante este tiempo, tuve que celebrar sus vidas a la distancia, y como madre que jamás se ha separado de ellos, fue muy triste. Desde que amaneció, sentí mi corazón arrugado. Y no solo a mí y a mi esposo nos afectó la distancia; a ellos también, y mucho más.
Aunque tengan la edad que tienen, aún permanecen a nuestro lado, y eso lo agradezco a la vida, porque el día menos pensado alzarán sus alas y tomarán su camino. Mis hijos siempre serán mis bebés, así los veré toda la vida. Al regresar a nuestra ciudad, lo primero que hice fue acurrucarme con ellos en mi cama para ver películas como de costumbre.
Les dije que saldríamos al día siguiente para disfrutar de un buen momento juntos. Mi hija me comentó que habían inaugurado unos murales en el casco histórico de Cumaná, Estado Sucre, Venezuela. Les dije que perfecto, ya había visto en redes lo lindo que quedó la zona y que me gustaría ir.
Así que emprendimos nuestro paseo, comenzando en el corazón de la ciudad para disfrutar de esos bellos murales, que representan tanta historia. Realmente, todo quedó hermoso; el recorrido valió la pena. Allí reímos, nos tomamos fotos y luego nos dirigimos al mejor centro comercial de nuestra ciudad, Hiper Galería.
El trayecto desde el casco histórico hasta el centro comercial son como 20 minutos. Disfrutamos del bullicio de la ciudad. Dios, cuánto extrañaba todo esto: mis hijos y mi amada Cumaná. Al llegar, nos encontramos con un baile en honor a la Virgen del Valle, patrona de Oriente. Allí disfrutamos un momento y seguimos avanzando de tienda en tienda hasta que llegamos a nuestro destino: unos deliciosos helados.
Ese momento me llenó el alma. Estar con los seres que más amo y seguir creando momentos a su lado es lo más bonito que tengo en la vida. Mis hijos son mis mejores amigos y confidentes de aventuras. Mamis y papis, mientras tengan la oportunidad, siempre disfruten de sus hijos, sin importar la edad que tengan. Recuerden que la vida es efímera, y no hay cosa más hermosa que tus hijos sean tus amigos y confidentes.
