Hace unos días tuve la oportunidad de asistir a una mega jornada médica asistencial en un centro para niños y adolescentes diagnosticados con autismo, TDH, TDAH, el lugar también da atención a niños con síndrome de down y con alguna discapacidad física. Este fué el primer lugar que visité cuando recibí el diagnóstico de mi hijo.y afortunadamente hemos recibido buena atención de allí aunque a veces se tarden mucho en dar citas.
A few days ago, I had the opportunity to attend a mega medical care day at a center for children and adolescents diagnosed with autism, TDH, ADHD. The center also provides care for children with Down syndrome and physical disabilities. This was the first place I visited when my son was diagnosed, and fortunately, we have received good care there, although sometimes it takes a long time to get appointments.
Desde el año pasado exactamente por estas fechas perdí la secuencia de las citas de Aarón porque mi mamá se enfermó y estuvo muy grave en el hospital, desde entonces se me ha hecho complicado y tuve que recurrir a algunos especialistas en la parte privada y pues suelen ser muy costosos. Cuando ví por redes sociales que harían la jornada no dudé en acercarme con mi hijo, aunque no pude obtener una cita para el neurólogo que era una de mis prioridades pues ya debo actualizar su diagnóstico, pude obtener una para psicopedagogía.
Around this time last year, I missed Aaron's appointments because my mother fell ill and was seriously ill in the hospital. Since then, it has been difficult for me, and I had to resort to some private specialists, which tend to be very expensive. When I saw on social media that they would be holding the event, I didn't hesitate to bring my son along. Although I couldn't get an appointment with the neurologist, which was one of my priorities because I need to update his diagnosis, I was able to get one with a psychopedagogue.
Ese día brindarían asistencia gratuita varias especialidades como neurología, foniatria, psicopedagogía, terapia de lenguaje, terapia ocupacional y hasta oftalmología. Mi niño y yo nos sentimos muy cómodos, Aarón se portó muy bien y el personal hizo lo necesario por mantener la jornada organizada a pesar de que hubo mucha asistencia, nosotros llegamos a las 8:00 y ya a las 10.30 estaba saliendo de la consulta, fueron muy amables y empáticos.
That day, free assistance would be provided in various specialties such as neurology, phoniatrics, psychopedagogy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and even ophthalmology. My son and I felt very comfortable. Aaron behaved very well, and the staff did everything necessary to keep the day organized despite the large turnout. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. and by 10:30 a.m. we were leaving the clinic. They were very kind and empathetic.
Aproveché para preguntar sobre los requisitos para ponerlo en control en el centro y su respuesta fué que debo esperar al año que viene porque lamentablemente este año está lleno y no hay más citas, esa es una de las razones por las que muchos padres no tienen a sus hijos con alguna condición recibiendo atención, muchos acuden pero es difícil obtener una cita para los especialistas que sus hijos necesitan y la opción privada es prácticamente un lujo que la mayoría no puede costear en este país.
Por nuestra parte, seguimos buscando maneras de que nuestra hijo reciba atención, dando prioridad a los especialistas que sabemos que nuestro hijo necesita en este momento.

I took the opportunity to ask about the requirements for getting him checked at the center, and his response was that I should wait until next year because, unfortunately, this year is full and there are no more appointments available. That is one of the reasons why many parents do not have their children with certain conditions receiving care. Many go, but it is difficult to get an appointment with the specialists their children need, and the private option is practically a luxury that most cannot afford in this country.
