Yesterday, I felt much more closer to my mom. I was thinking in my head, "this woman is my mother".
Like she wasn't before.
She shared the story of an event that happened recently with me about a man who raped a little girl of five. Someone also shared the story with her and she said she asked what was being done about that and the reply was that the people in the family are saying it's a family issue and they are arranging for a family meeting to discuss the issue and what should be done.
My mom was saying that the man should be arrested and that if the family are really concerned about their family image, they should take the meeting to the police station. Nonsense and family meeting.
That act is not a sacrilege against the family alone, it's always against the society.
When it comes to issues like this, no one should be accused of meddling with family business. You're a nuisance to the society. If you can do it to one, you can do it to another and our children ought to feel safe tin the society and not be considered as tools for your sexual gratification.
Everyone in the society should speak out and condemn violence against women, men and children.
We have a collective role and responsibility to hold members of the society to a level of decorum and sense.

the idea that if a victim is rape she should feel ashamed or her family is AWFUL! and as you say, so true our children should feel safe wherever they are.
