I've always been an excitable gal, usually over the little things that more serious folk have left behind in childhood. This week I've been a little bit bemused at how a few folk have received my enthusiasm for fungi.
Take an Insta story, excited about my new hoodie, coupled with a few photos of fungi in the Tassie wilderness.

One old mate said: yeah yeah, we get it, you like mushrooms.
I had the distinct impression I was BORING him. Ouch. Really? I kinda felt maybe I had overstepped and should stop my enthusiastic gushing.

The hubs too. He was chatting to someone at work about me going out to find saffron milk caps. Their response? 'Oh, is mushrooms your new craze then?'. Um. Yes? Always has been? How could you NOT be excited about mycellium and their fruiting bodies?

I have ALWAYS been in wondrous amazement at nature. Eclipses. Shooting stars. Fireballs. Waterfalls. Waves. Blowholes. Fractal lime coloured cauliflower. The colour of red cabbage when you slice it. Baby peppers inside mumma peppers. Rock formations. Thermal springs where warm water bubbles up from the earth, like the one I stumbled upon below.

Man, I ain't apologizing for these joy bubbles. Love me, love my enthusiasm. It's part of who I am.
With Love,

Screw people is what I can say! Lol. Especially people who don’t understand the importance of being able to do things on our own like find wild edibles! You are far braver than I and more skilled clearly. Mushrooms are one thing I for sure stay far away from when I find them. I have no idea if what I’m looking at is perfectly healthy or perfectly deadly lol. I wish I had the confidence to know but at least not at this point!
Get yourself a book and work out your basic edibles near you or up at the lake. Then find ones that are ballpark near what you think they might be. Then go through a checklist online and watch you tubes to be 100 percent certain. You have to start somewhere. Once you know, you know! And yeah, people are just jealous, right?
🤣🤣🤣
At the risk of embarrassing myslef, I’m admit that this title line took me a second - but so worth it!!
Lol me too!
LOL!
😜 Its an old joke around here!
these things makes me happy too! especially the waves... the waterfall and blowholes! and yes i love mushroom too especially when out of the blue they popped out besides my baby plants :)
Gosh aren't they a joy? Off waterfall and mushroom hunting today I hope x
envy here now.. I still have to travel for me to see a waterfall... but my plants surprises me with mushrooms every now and then :)
I, at least, will always enjoy reading about whatever enthusiasm it is you have. I may not share it, but I sure like reading our posts about it. :))
Thankyou times a million, my dear friend! We live in different times and spaces but I imagine us being in a forest with flared jeans and flower tops having a grand old time!
Yes, please!!!
I see what you did there with the title, brilliant hahaha!
That big red one looks so cool! How's it called?
Amanita muscaria
Don't ever apologize for your joy bubbles, EVER!! I am the same kind of bubbly, joyful person & I do have to say, I am very happy I came across another human that shares the joy-bubbleness!!
I love mushrooms also btw. Great photos & that hoodie is really neat 🍄💕
I am totally with you!! I'll spam my loves and my faves. Fnck 'em all! It's their boredom. Not mine. As we'd say in South Africa:
Ahaha love this soooo much! Fuck em indeed!!!! Go you wonderful thing!!
lovely, lovely details. and what the hell is this ?! can you give the name?
it looks a bit like Amanita muscaria for its crimson colour, but cant be it, I think... intrigue!
It's an amanita muscaria! There were tiny ones just busting from soil, medium ones, and big ones like this!
oh, so it is it, just without white spots? nice find. thats a very distinguishable mushroom, one of the most fancy-lookibg ones here, in the north of Europe.
and the size of this certain edition, does impress too!
Now this might just be me tripping but... Doesn't that third picture look like some weird bird? XD
Anyway, it's super neat that you're into Nature this way and also... You've git an Awesome hoodie there.
Wait... hold on a second, red cabbages are an actual thing?
Omg you've not seen a red cabbage?
You must google this!!
And yes I thought it was bird like and flight like too, you aren't tripping at all!
Nope! Never. I'll look it up. Does it taste any different from the normal cabbage though?
And hurray for not tripping...
I totally get you. Being amazed about nature's little ( or big ) miracles is a sign that the child inside of you is still very much alive. Very healthy
xx
Oh goodness if the child dies I die!!
Same here, in fact I am bringing it back into my life more and more ;^)
shroom love...
pick the semi edibles :P
Oh wow that hoodie, I want one, I'm sure I deserve one at least lol.
I always get mushroom cards for my birthday, my friends know how to make me happy lol.
I totally understand the obsession with Fungi, I mean why won't you be, they are just amazing. Talking about them, seeing them, learning more about them makes me so happy xxxxx
I know,it's awesome, but I guess I can see why people think we are bonkers 😂🍄🍄🍄
