in Fungi Lovers4 months ago

Can you guess which one has its original color on this #mushroommonday ?

#1 Fungi come in all shapes and sizes and colors. None of these colors would be abnormal in the fungi kingdom.

#2 But as you can start to guess the colors have been swapped. Are you an expert enough to recognize the form and realize which one is actually the right color?

#3 Blue greens are quite common in nature and the fungi species.

#4 Reds have their place too and are quite iconic in video games.

#5 Orange is not impossible either. Heck some even glow in the dark...

#6 A toad chilling out on a blue purple toadstool, quite achievable in nature.

#7 Exposed brain looking colors also quite common, perhaps this is the rightly colored mushroom.

#8 Grape hubba bubba bubble gum? Or just another Saprobic creature feeding on dead wood?

#9 Magenta has been seen as well. I wouldn't eat one probably because the texture is like plastic.

Sort:

Maybe if I saw the color of mushrooms like this and I wouldn't go home there and keep looking at them,Cool.

Only one of the pictures has the correct color can you guess which one?

The orange one

You are correct! That one also turns green in the dark as it has bioluminescence hence the name jackolantern mushroom.

I haven't seen it glow in the dark, that must be amazing! Chicken of the woods would be fun if it really was that pink

#1 and #3 and #9 definitely have photo-manipulated colour.
oh, and I'd argue that "blue greens" fungi are quite common in nature - comparing to a waste majority of the rest, they occure more rarely. imo.

awesome post, all in all, you deserve some !PIZZA after such a careful and tedious research work! 😇

I should have posted a blue green cup fungi. Crazy colorful and weird looking even its mycelium is blue green.

Yes, Chlorociboria aeruginosa aka Elfcups, is a perfect example.
But it is rather an exception to the general rule, right?

I hope I will encounter it one day, as well.

I only found it once hidden under some bark on a dead log. The only other blue mushroom I found was a blue turkeytail. I'm still looking for the indigo lactarius that theoretically might grow in my area. It has amazing blue gills.

This pink candy is quite nice 😁

I would imagine it tastes like generic bubble gum or cotton candy. That particular photo was one of the best timed harvest of chicken of the woods.

I've seen mushrooms like the orange one so I'm going with that one 🤔

Yeah that crazy orange one is a glow in the dark jackolantern mushroom. Its pretty difficult to catch their glow on camera, need a high quality long exposure.
