RE: Some "lifestyle" changes

in Self Improvement3 years ago

I had a friend who had a heart attack shortly before he turned 50. That and the fact that I had a short battle with cancer was enough to tell me I needed to get my butt in gear. I had cut out soda a long time ago, but I made a renewed effort to start working out more. I have been pretty regular at that for the past two years now. I can tell it is helping even though I haven't really lost any weight. I think I'd need to cut out the alcohol for that to happen. Not that I drink a lot. I just know it is one thing that I haven't cut out yet that I could.

Hey great to hear you beat that, had no idea! and yeah, I'm lucky I don't really enjoy alcohol, never liked beer and in general only drank in my youth cause everyone else did it. I prefered smoking some marijuana over alcohol at one point but it's been quite a tolerance break from that as well the past 5-6 years, guess you could say Hive's been the only drug I need lately, haha.

I've heard that sticking to just some wine with your last dinner shouldn't be that bad for your health and still get that little alcohol in you just to let you sleep easier at night.

I have heard that too about wine. I typically only drink on the weekends and I prefer whiskey. I really think it is the occasional captain and cokes that really get me. That's the only time I drink soda. I love my sweets though and that doesn't help me either. I recently started doing some weight training. They say as you get older you need to build more muscle to burn the fat, so I am focusing on that. I got way luckier than a lot of people with the cancer. Only cost me a nut.

Haha that's nice to hear!
