Welcoming Friday with some positivity

in Self Improvement2 months ago

I went to the convenience store a while ago to buy some drinks. I intended to get bottled water but I was tempted to buy some alcoholic drinks that are in promotion right now. Together with the chilled alcoholic drinks is a flavored canned that sells at $2.50 for 2. I thought I was seeing it wrongly because a can of flavored beer for $1.25 is a steal. The normal price of these things would be at an average of $5 so I was motivated to give it a try.

While in the queue, I had with me a grocery basket with 2 liters of bottled water and 2 cans of flavored beer. I placed it all on the counter but then the cashier asked her colleague if she could allow me to buy the canned drinks. I was surprised to learn that I'm unable to buy the flavored beers. I was puzzled but then I remembered that the law says that no one can buy or sell alcoholic drinks after 10 PM.

I was disappointed because there were no reminders written on the chiller about this law so I blindly picked a few cans of it.

I consider it lucky. I didn't want to drink flavored beer at the moment. I'm avoiding high-calorie food or drinks and this type of beer is a drink that I should avoid. It's high in sugar & carbohydrates as well. It's a good thing that it was too late for me to buy it anymore.

Plain water should be fine for tonight 😅.

The other day, I saw an interesting slogan that says...

"Sore today. Strong tomorrow. Don't give up."

Somehow, it resonated with me and now it's in my mind whenever I'm having doubts about reaching one of my goals this year. Being fit and healthy is one of my objectives and I wanted to make it "actually" happen this year. It's been years since I kept adding it to my resolution but never really made it happen due to my excuses.

Alongside, the slogan is the suggested set of exercises that doesn't require any equipment to do. It only requires dedication and focus since it must be done every Monday to Friday. That's a challenge considering that the frequency required is almost every day. It's possible but for someone like me who is having difficulty when it comes to consistency, it could be too challenging to accomplish.

The slogan makes sense because for me to achieve the fitness level that I aim for, I will need to sacrifice more than just my time and energy to make it happen. The process of getting there will be tiring and my muscles will be sore however if I'm able to endure that then every difficulty will be worth it!

I used to work at a 7-11 (convenience store) and I don't remember what time we weren't allowed to sell alcohol after but we used to lock the coolers at that hour so they couldn't even be opened where the beer was. You would hear people try to open it and it would just bang and then they'd know it was too late.
We were across the street from a bar though, so every night when the bar closed at like 3 am, we'd get a rush of drunk people wanting snacks. That crowd was interesting, lol.
