There are movies that have the ability to connect with the audience from the first minute of shooting while there are others that don't, American Assassin is among that first group without a doubt, if you have seen it most likely you agree with me but if you haven't then read on, I am convinced that after doing so you will take some time to watch it.
Talking about revenge is not something I like very much honestly, but in this film most of the plot is developed based on that, the protagonist and the antagonist are immersed in this desire to take justice into their own hands, one fighting for the benefit of humanity and the other trying to cause greater damage than he has received, it is interesting but so we can approach the story that this film presents us.
Mitch's life could not be better, enjoying the beach with his girlfriend and proposing marriage in front of everyone present, the excitement of that moment is incomparable, when one proposes marriage and the loved one says "yes" is a truly unforgettable moment, so reflected Mitch at the beginning of the film, but who would have thought that in less than two minutes that nice scene would become something frightening.

The radical Muslims arrived and with them came misfortune, this terrorist group killed everyone on the beach except Mitch who was left badly wounded, perhaps they assumed he would die because of the two shots he had received. I must confess that I made a mistake watching it with my 8 year old daughter, we always watch movies together but in this one she quickly began to cry and her chest was heaving, at that moment I dedicated myself to take care of her and talk to her to solve the situation, now all that remains is to take her to the beach and show her that nothing is wrong.
After Mitch loses his fiancée his life changes completely, he leaves the university and begins to train martial arts and investigate the sect that committed such terrorist act, his idea is simple, kill them all because in his mind that kind of people do not deserve to live. For that he learns the teachings of Islam and begins to have contact with these people so that they recruit him and thus be able to infiltrate, what Mitch did not know is that "the CIA" was monitoring him secretly because the fact of being the only survivor did not cease to be something suspicious.
Eighteen months passed when he was called to meet with the sect, his revenge was about to be realized or so he thought but at the moment he met the murderer of his fiancée, the American army arrived and killed everyone in the mosque, Mitch was furious and unbridled since he was not the one who killed that person. Once freed from death he is recruited by the secret group Orion and trained to serve the United States in its fight against terrorism. This part of the story is very interesting because the good actor Michael Keaton (Hurley) enters the scene, his participation as leader of Orion and his experience in the battlefield make him see that Mitch would be a big problem for the team, but forced to accept it, he trains him hard and teaches him that he should not make it personal in the sense that he should be professional in his work and leave revenge aside.

This theme of making things personal is precisely what the antagonist does, a mercenary who responds to the alias of "Ghost" but is really an exile from Orion, he was believed to be dead but as they go into a mission they realize that he is still alive and wants to arm a nuclear bomb, however he does it to get revenge on Hurley who according to him abandoned him years ago where he was captured and tortured.
As you can see we have two extremes, one that to save many people must put aside his revenge and another that continues with his thirst for revenge until the end, the denouement is exciting, there is a lot of action and deaths along the way but everything obeys an order of events that make this movie something masterful from my point of view. In 2017 when it was released it did not have much acceptance, perhaps because of the violent and bloody, although I think it had a lot to do with the issue of terrorism since here they involve countries like Iraq and Iran linked to this and the development of nuclear weapons.
Do people like this really exist?
After watching it and meditating a little this question arises, but in turn takes me to times of the first and second world war where nuclear bombs killed many people, and that makes me conclude that if there are such people in the world, we also have the attack of the twin towers and many more things that have happened in the history of mankind to affirm that the mentality of man can do atrocious things without a doubt.
This film serves to reflect that we are in a fallen world and that at any moment happiness can turn black because of others, so as a man, head of household and father I must enjoy and cultivate what God has given me, my wife and children and guide them to live a life that is not only an enjoyment for them but also beneficial to others.
Finally and to conclude, this movie teaches us that revenge is evil, it corrupts the human mind and leads people to commit horrendous crimes, those who have indulged in it have done so and many of their crimes remain in history to this day.

American Assassin: ¿Hasta dónde estarías dispuesto a llegar por venganza?

Hay películas que tienen la capacidad de conectar con la audiencia desde el primer minuto de rodaje mientras hay otras que no, American Assassin se encuentra entre ese primer grupo sin duda alguna, si la has visto muy seguramente estes de acuerdo conmigo pero si no lo has hecho sigue leyendo, estoy convencido que luego de hacerlo te tomaras un tiempo para verla.
Hablar de venganza no es algo que me guste mucho honestamente, pero en esta película la mayor parte de la trama se desarrolla en base a eso, el protagonista y el antagonista están sumidos en ese deseo de hacer justicia por sus propias manos, uno luchando por el beneficio de la humanidad y otro intentando causar un daño mayor del que el ha recibido, es interesante pero asi podemos abordar la historia que nos presenta este film.
La vida Mitch no podía ser mejor, disfrutando en la playa con su novia y proponiéndole matrimonio delante de todos los presentes, la algarabía de ese instante es incomparable, cuando uno propone matrimonio y la persona amada dice “si” es un momento inolvidable realmente, asi lo reflejo Mitch al iniciar la película, pero quien iba a decir que en menos de dos minutos esa agradable escena se convertiría en algo espantoso.

Llegaron los musulmanes radicales y con ellos la desgracia, este grupo terrorista acabo con todos los que se encontraban en la playa menos con Mitch a quien dejaron mal herido, quizás asumieron que moriría a causa de los dos disparos que había recibido. Esta escena cruda y de horror definitivamente impacta emocionalmente, debo confesar que cometi un error al verla con mi hija de 8 años, siempre vemos películas juntos pero en esta rapidamente comenzó a llorar y tenia su pecho acelerado, en ese instante me dedique a atenderla y a conversar con ella para solventar la situación, ahora solo queda llevarla a la playa y demostrarle que no pasa nada.
Luego que Mitch pierde a su prometida su vida cambia por completo, deja la universidad y comienza a entrenar artes marciales e investigar a la secta que cometio tal acto terrorista, su idea es simple, matarlos a todos porque en su mente ese tipo de personas no merecen vivir. Para eso aprende las enseñanzas del Islam y comienza a tener contacto con estas personas para que lo recluten y asi poder infiltrarse, lo que Mitch no sabia es que “la Cía” lo monitoreaba ocultamente pues el hecho de ser el único sobreviviente no dejaba de ser algo sospechoso.
Pasaron 18 meses cuando es llamado a reunirse con la secta, su venganza esta por concretarse o eso pensaba el pero en el momento que se encontró con el asesino de su prometida llego el ejercito norteamericano y acabo con todos en la mezquita, Mitch estaba furioso y desenfrenado ya que no fue el quien mato a dicha persona. Una vez librado de la muerte es reclutado por el grupo secreto Orion y entrenado para servir a los Estados Unidos en su lucha contra el terrorismo. Esta parte de la historia es muy interesante porque el buen actor Michael Keaton (Hurley) entra en escena, su participación como líder de Orion y su experiencia en el campo de batalla le hacen ver que Mitch seria un gran problema para el equipo, pero obligado a aceptarlo lo entrena duramente y le enseña que no debe hacerlo personal en el sentido que debe ser profesional en su trabajo y dejar las venganzas de lado.

Este tema de hacer las cosas personales es lo que precisamente hace el antagonista, un mercenario que responde al alias de “Ghost” pero que realmente es un exiliado de Orion, se creía que estaba muerto pero a medida que se adentran en una misión se dan cuenta que todavía sigue con vida y desea armar una bomba nuclear, sin embargo lo hace para cobrar venganza de Hurley quien según el lo abandono años atrás donde fue capturado y torturado.
Como puedes ver tenemos dos extremos, uno que para salvar a muchas personas debe dejar de lado su venganza y otro que continua con su sed de venganza hasta el final, el desenlace es emocionante, hay mucha accion y muertes en el camino pero todo obedece a un orden de eventos que hacen de esta película algo magistral desde mi punto de vista. En el 2017 cuando se lanzo no tuvo mucha aceptación, quizás por lo violenta y sangrienta, aunque pienso que tuvo mucho que ver el asunto del terrorismo ya que aquí involucran a países como Irak e Iran ligados a esto y al desarrollo de armas nucleares.
Realmente existen personas asi?
Luego de verla y meditar un poco me surge esta interrogante, pero a su vez me lleva a tiempos de la primera y segunda guerra mundial donde las bombas nucleares acabaron con la vida de mucha gente, y eso me hace concluir que si existen este tipo de personas en el mundo, tambien tenemos el atentado de las torres gemelas y muchas mas cosas que han sucedido en la historia de la humanidad para afirmar que la mentalidad del hombre puede realizar cosas atroces sin lugar a dudas.
Esta película sirve para refelxionar que estamos en un mundo caído y que en cualquier momento la felicidad puede tornarse negra a causa de otros, por lo que como hombre, cabeza de hogar y padre debo disfrutar y cultivar de lo que Dios me ha dado, mi esposa e hijos y guiarlos a vivir una vida que no solo sea un disfrute para ellos sino que tambien sea beneficiosa para los demás.
Por ultimo y para concluir, esta película nos enseña que la venganza es mala, corrompe la mente humana y lleva a las personas a cometer crímenes horrendos, quienes se han entregado a ella lo han hecho y muchos de sus crimenes perduran en la historia hasta el dia de hoy.

Creo que escuche una vez sobre esta pelicula pero la termine confundiendo con otra película, la verdad es que no la he visto asi que me llama mucho la atención, me gustaria ver como termina y como se desarrolla toda la trama, porque la historia se ve muy interesante, es cierto lo de la venganza nunca se saca nada bueno de ella cuando quieres llevarla hasta las ultimas consecuencias.
Y entiendo a tu hija a mi me paso lo mismo cuando era una niña con una pelicula de Arnold schwarzenegger, me puse a llorar pensando que realmente habia muerto, creo que eso fue algo traumatico para mi,hasta que creci y termine entendiendo que todo era falso, asi que realmente la entiendo. La película es buena, toda la acción que se desprende se vincula a las circunstancias del momento pero la parte interesante es como ambos personajes son movidos por la venganza para lograr sus propias metas, vale la pena tomarse un tiempo y verla.
No sabía de esta película, pero claro que suena interesante. Comparto con vos en que hay personas así, y es una lástima, porque pueden causar daños impresionantes e irreparables para toda la humanidad, como los ejemplos que mencionas. Buena producción y además genial tu reflexión.

No he visto este film, es del 2017, pero no me intereso en ese momento. El director tiene bastante experiencia en series y tiene alguna que otra peli buena. Aparece Keaton, bueno, la buscare para verla cuando tenga oportunidad.
Tiene su trama interesante, de hecho fue lanzada en torno a todo el terrorismo que en ese entonces se respiraba. A mí particularmente me llama la atención como dos hombres de bandos opuestos actúan en base a su propia venganza arrastrando a gente inocente por ello.
