I don't know about you but I recently heard about a new contest being organized in this beautiful community and I thought that I should participate even just for the sake that I love watching movies so much. But while I'm not a horror movies fan, I managed to find a cool film to watch last night which I think will fit just right in the contest as well.

Introduction
While my boyfriend recognized Samuel L. Jackson from the movie distribution and thought right away that it's going to be a good movie, I was more interested to see the acting of Maggie Q whom I discovered while watching the "Divergent" Trilogy where I've also read the books.
Anyway, The Protégé is an American action-thriller movie from 2021 directed by Martin Campbell but where all the three main actors brought their contribution to writing the script too, which you won't see happening everyday.
Though, what made me think that The Protégé might be a great pick for the Halloween Contest was that we are talking about a really bloody movie, with lots of crimes and detailed scenes of torture in some cases. Personally, I'd always go for a comedy or romantic movie rather that an action one, but considering that we are talking about a film with a female protagonist which reminded me about Lucy and Anna that are two of my favourite movies, I thought that I can't miss this one.
Description
Even from the beginning of the movie, we are far from talking about a gentle start of the action or some minutes of accommodation before seeing lots of blood because Samuel L. Jackson is the one that breaks the silence while he saves Maggie Q when she was a kid and becomes her spiritual father that teaches her how to become the most dangerous killer out there.
Though, the thing that really caught my interest was to see some sequences be filmed in Romania with some Romanian actors like Florin Piersic Jr. who's father is among the biggest stars in Romanian cinematography and Tudor Chirila that is also a juror on "The Voice - Romania".
Honestly, as much as I enjoy watching movies and series with Romanian actors and seeing them making small steps on the way to a great success, I've never imagined seeing these two acting next to Michael Keaton or Samuel L. Jackson even for just a few minutes. But this brought a big smile on my face and even made me more curious to see what happens next.
Though, talking about a female protagonist that is trained to become the most efficient contract killer out there, do expect to see lots of crimes and moments when you better look away. However, even with all the cruel action, the movie begins only after the spiritual father of Maggie Q dies and she forgets about the previous missions and only focuses to find the one who is responsible for that crime.
I let you figure out what happens next and what the girl has to go through in this process because I'm sure the many twists that will come out will make you change your mind over and over again.
Opinions
There's nothing to complain about the acting of any of the actors because they definitely do a great job and know how to keep you curious along the whole movie, but some sequences felt a little bit too much or like some romantic-comedy scenes tried to break the silence but they failed terrible.
That's actually the single minus I'd give to the movie because I didn't feel the need to see those sequences even though drama-comedies are my favourite movies. But it's hard to see them working well in an action-thriller movie that is 90% of the time covered in blood or shooting weapons.
Other than that, I'd have loved to see the Romanian actors and Samuel L. Jackson be more present in the movie, but I like how they all left enough space to have Maggie Q as the main actor and show what a girl is capable of.
Conclusions
If you are all in for movies with a female protagonist that manages to escape from any situation and even turn everything on her side, then The Protégé is definitely for you.
However, the movie is not limited to crimes only because as I said it brings some romantic-comedy scenes as well, that can be more or less enjoyed depending how much you love having some hardcore action be interrupted by these.
Though, a thing that brought one more touch to turn the film in a masterpiece in my eyes, were the scenes with Robert Patrick and his band of bikers becoming a collaborator with Maggie Q, knowing these guys from Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC that are my favourite series and which I think everyone should watch.

Samuel L Jackson is one of my favorite actors,if I should count I've seen like 16 of his movies. I've not seen this particular movie but I've added it To my cart. I'll love ask how was Micheal L Jackson on this movie, was his sense of humor top tier as usual? I do like Micheal Keaton too, especially when he's the has an evil role to play.
Oh, wow, you are a great fan I guess! I've only seen a few movies with him as the main actor but they were all great for sure. He's not funny at all in The Protégé actually, but more of a man that protects what he loves and is always one step ahead of what his enemies will ever think about. I can't wait to hear your feedback after you watch the movie :)

Hey! I haven't seen Samuel L. Jackson act in a long time, for me he is an excellent actor, so this movie has caught my attention. I've also seen in other interpretations of the protagonist and her personality is very intimidating, so I'm sure this new challenge fell like a glove. I will try to see it on the weekend ☺️
