Días llevo queriendo compartir mis impresiones sobre Werewolf by night, una de las últimas series de Marvel Studios, donde estrenandose en un género más (de suspenso/terror en este caso) logra a la vez que dejar su impronta cautivar a los espectadores con la producción. Pero ¿Por qué ha sido interesante? Al menos, dos razones pudiese compartir:
Un excelente contexto
La serie es el especial de Halloween que la productora de Marvel preparó para este año, por lo cual no pudo ser mejor su decisión ya que se aprovechó la ocasión para mostrar está parte o lado más tenebroso, oscuro y hasta sobrenatural en el que la franquicia no ha profundizado totalmente.
Ciertamente si hemos tenido una especie de preparación con algunos indicios de existencia de otras creaturas, algunos de los ejemplos más destacables son la bruja escarlata, Moon Knight y hasta en los Eternals que concretamente en su escena post-credito hace referencia a dos cazadores de monstruos: black night y Blade.
Y es que de esto en esencia trata este especial, un grupo de cazadores de monstruos que luchan entre sí en una misión para lograr quedarse con lo que se considera una herramienta poderosa para esta clase de oficios: la gema de sangre.

Una historia paralela
La historia se desarrolla de manera muy acorde a la situación en un ambiente totalmente sombrío, por eso, prácticamente todo fue grabado y rodado en blanco y negro, lo cual le daba más ese toque oscuro y de misterio. Por eso, aunque en un principio puede chocar este cambio en lo que Marvel Studios nos suele ofrecer, les recomendamos no desesperarse porque a la medida que la serie avanza se torna más interesante.
La trama se centra en una historia particular, pudiésemos decir que es la de la familia Bloodstone y de manera especial de la que será su nueva líder: Elsa, cómo se podrá intuir en este grupo familiar es donde ha reposado la gema se sangre por años, por lo que nos lleva a inferir que mientras los hechos de las historias tradicionales de Marvel transcurrían de manera paralela (Iron man, Capitán América, Hulk, Thor, etc.) también existían ya historias de monstruos y cazadores.
De aquí también podemos intuir no sólo un posterior desarrollo de este tipo de series sino también la posibilidad de conectar con algunas de las realidades e historias del MCU, de tal manera que quede más clara la relación que existe entre todas las historias que la productora nos presenta, aunque en un principio puedan parecer cosas diversas entre sí.
De verdad es que la serie me pareció espectacular, con unos actores de lujo y una narrativa que nos llamó la atención desde el principio con preguntas como ¿Cómo sería la transformación del hombre lobo? ¿Qué la motivaria? ¿Quiénes son los buenos y cuáles los malos? Todo muy bien...

... Pero quedó corta
Es lo que Marvel ha tenido que pagar en algunas de sus más grandes producciones, y es que al estar presentando las historias en el formato de serie, se dejan muchas cuestiones abiertas, por eso, el esfuerzo por presentar escenas auto conclusivas, como en mi opinión fue esta.
Esto es una forma de solventar aunque sea momentáneamente el problema, además de que deja al espectador con ganas de ver más, por eso, creemos que pronto veremos una continuación o profundización de este tipo de historias y en este género, al mismo tiempo que seguirán aprovechando los especiales de temporadas, cómo Halloween, para presentar o marcar acontecimientos o relatos de mayor importancia.

For days I've been wanting to share my impressions about Werewolf by night, one of the latest series from Marvel Studios, where debuting in another genre (suspense/terror in this case) manages to captivate viewers with the production while leaving its mark. But why has it been interesting? At least two reasons I could share:
An excellent context.
The series is the Halloween special that Marvel's production company prepared for this year, so it could not have been a better decision since it took advantage of the occasion to show this part or darker, darker and even supernatural side in which the franchise has not fully deepened.
Certainly we have had a kind of preparation with some hints of existence of other creatures, some of the most notable examples are the Scarlet Witch, Moon Knight and even in the Eternals that specifically in its post-credits scene refers to two monster hunters: Black Night and Blade.
And this is what this special is essentially about, a group of monster hunters who fight each other in a mission to get to keep what is considered a powerful tool for this kind of trade: the blood gem.

A parallel story
The story unfolds very much in keeping with the situation in a totally gloomy environment, that's why practically everything was shot and filmed in black and white, which gave it more that dark and mysterious touch. So, although at first this change in what Marvel Studios usually offers us may shock, we recommend you not to despair because as the series progresses it becomes more interesting.
The plot focuses on a particular story, we could say that it is that of the Bloodstone family and especially that of its new leader: Elsa, as you can guess in this family group is where the blood gem has rested for years, which leads us to infer that while the facts of the traditional Marvel stories ran in parallel (Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, etc.) there were also stories of monsters and hunters.
From here we can also intuit not only a further development of this type of series but also the possibility of connecting with some of the realities and stories of the MCU, so that the relationship between all the stories that the producer presents to us is clearer, although at first they may seem different from each other.
The truth is that I found the series spectacular, with great actors and a narrative that caught our attention from the beginning with questions like: How would the werewolf transformation be? What would motivate it? Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? All very good...

... But it fell short
It is what Marvel has had to pay in some of its biggest productions, and is that when presenting the stories in the format of series, many open questions are left open, therefore, the effort to present self-concluding scenes, as in my opinion was this one.
This is a way to solve even momentarily the problem, plus it leaves the viewer wanting to see more, so we believe that soon we will see a continuation or deepening of this type of stories and in this genre, while continuing to take advantage of season specials, such as Halloween, to present or mark events or stories of greater importance.

Me gustó mucho este especial y es porque hay posibilidades para mostrar otro mundo en dónde no solo se enfoque en personajes que pueden ser parte de los nuevos Avengers.
Tiene humor y acción, buenos personajes, aunque lamentablemente también hace un mal uso del villano principal, me sorprende que Marvel no tiene aprecio hacia los villanos y todo es sobre sus héroes.
En mi opinión es por los momentos lo mejor que ha hecho Marvel Studios en el año.
Saludos, totalmente de acuerdo, con esta serie se abre otro mundo, más oscuro evidentemente, en MarvelStudios, el cuál puede atraer otra clase de público incluso. De cualquier forma, algo para seguirle la pista muy de cerca.

I plan to see this one. The director, the actors and especially the use of black and white. I think there's an article on the internet where the director explains how he convinced Marvel's head of productions to shoot it in monochrome. I haven't read it. Maybe that's why it hasn't been seen as much by Marvel fans. For all those things I do want to see it.
Perhaps, this is a good argument, but I'll invite everyone to see it, by other hand it's a short production and present another argument, a bit strange for the MCU still now.
