Tengo que empezar este apartado hablando del protagonista que es simplemente patético y lamentable, a lo largo del filme solo se dedica a disculparse y sentir vergüenza por la situación precaria en la que se encuentra, lo acertado de esto es que en ningún momento el filme lo victimiza o justifica dejando en claro que lo que está atravesando fue causado por las malas decisiones que tomó en su vida. Sin embargo, el problema con este personaje es que se le da muy poco enfoque fuera de las dificultades que atraviesa y esta falta de momentos grises en donde se pueda conocerle causa que no puedas empatizar fácilmente con él y mayormente se sienta lastima al ir denotándose su progresivo deterioro.

Por otro lado se tiene a Liz quien es sencillamente magnífica, un personaje completamente bien hecho que demuestra una personalidad tridimensional y muy realista mostrando diferentes facetas con respecto a la situación en la que se encuentra involucrada, siendo incluso que llega a cuestionarse lo que está haciendo tratando de buscarle un sentido a sus acciones y una razón para continuar con estas, este personaje secundario es sin duda alguna el que se roba el show al presentar una construcción detallada y destacable. El resto de personajes no son como tal horrible pero podría definirlos como artistas de un solo truco que complementa la historia y/o tienen interacciones destacables con Liz o Charlie que son interesantes.

The Whale es un filme emotivo que trata de forma madura diferentes temas complejos que van desde la depresión hasta la obesidad, diría que su logro más destacable es el hecho de que ejemplifique de forma perfecta como ambas afectan no solo al que las padece sino también a su círculo cercano dándole un toque realista a la cinta. Es por ello que se merece 4.5 estrellas de 7, es una película que es seria y realista con los temas que trata y es esta misma seriedad la que la convierte en una alternativa más que viable tanto para entretener como para reflexionar los diferentes puntos que toca.

Si bien puedo destacar las actuaciones tanto de Liz cómo la del protagonista, en mi opinión no es una de las mejores películas, y esto más que todo por el hecho de que a pesar de que nos intentan hacer simpatizar con el y su situación, sólo puedes ver qué era una persona bastante lamentable al nunca asumir la responsabilidad de su vida ni d sus decisiones al dejar a su hija y pensar que todo estaba bien con guardar ese dinero, pudo haber cambiado su situación si hubiera querido pero ese no fue el caso. Lo que si me gustó fue la transformación física del protagonista. Saludos!
Precisamente ese punto es el que destacó, sinceramente la que salva el filme de ser un bodrio es Liz con su tridimensionalidad que la hace sentir muy real y congruente; por otro lado, estoy de acuerdo en que el protagonista es un ser desagradable por todo lo malo que ha hecho, lo bueno de esto es que el filme no justifica sus acciones ni le da la razón, por el contrario en reiteradas ocasiones lo acusa de estar equivocado y de que pudo haber hecho las cosas de mejor forma. No la considero la mejor película del año pasado ni mucho menos pero si una propuesta interesante a la cual darle por lo menos una oportunidad, muchas gracias por haber leído y dejado un comentario, te mando un fuerte abrazo desde la distancia. 🤗💜
I've seen this poster and clips a few time on my timeline but was hesitant to watch it. I was confused what it was about but since you mentioned it deals with depression and obesity, I'd jump the train to watch this one. I am sure I'd have something more to say about this one compared to movies I've watched lately.
As pointed out in another response in this film, you should not expect last minute claims or saved, the consequences of not responding to complicated situations in time and all the inconvenience that this entails, are in short a tape with several interesting things that invite reflection. Se habló mucho de este filme, sobre todo por el regreso del muy querido actor luego de pasar por un mal momento.
Querer esconder los problemas o patear la piedra más adelante, es una actitud que muchas personas, incluso dirigentes y políticos, suelen adoptar y solo empeora los problemas. Es muy fácil caer en esa actitud, hay que tratar de evitarla y si nos damos cuenta de que estamos en ella, hay que luchar por dejarla atrás.
Considero que el filme trabaja bien ese mensaje, no con el hecho de mostrar reivindicación sino ejemplificando las consecuencias de eludir los problemas y las dificultades de la vida. Muchas gracias por haber leído y dejado un comentario, te mando un fuerte abrazo desde la distancia. 🤗💜
