Saludos a todos y bienvenidos a mi blog. Hace días me escribió una amiga para decirme que viera esta película, que le gustó muchísimo y que le parecía buena.
Puse en duda de que a mí también fuera a gustarme, no porque no pueda ser una buena historia, sino porque mi amiga y yo tenemos gustos muy diferentes.
Cómo he estado enferma y desanimada pensé que una historia ligera me caería bien, así que decidí verla sin pensarlo mucho. Acá traigo la reseña de la misma.

I questioned whether I would like it too, not because it couldn't be a good story, but because my friend and I have very different tastes.
Since I have been sick and discouraged I thought a light story would do me good, so I decided to watch it without thinking much about it. Here is the review of it.

It has a running time of 1 hour and 52 minutes which makes it easy to consume if you like this type of content or very difficult to finish if you don't.

Realmente no esperaba escribir acerca de esta película, y si hubiese sido más sensata habría visto la calificación que tiene en algunas páginas de internet antes de verla.
Pensé: ¿por qué escribir mi opinión de este filme si la mayoría de las cosas que tengo para decir no son buenas? Me parece un poco tóxico. 😆
Sin embargo, no me parece justo haber tenido que ver una vez más la misma historia de siempre y no decir nada.
En serio, algunas historias de romance son divertidas, dan risa, son disfrutables a pesar de ser cliché, te hacen pasar un buen momento, pero esta no me gustó ni para eso. Creo que solo la vi por mi malestar y porque no quería adentrarme en historias complicadas.
I really didn't expect to write about this movie, and if I had been more sensible I would have seen the rating it has on some websites before watching it.
I thought: why write my opinion of this film if most of the things I have to say are not good? It seems a bit toxic to me. 😆
However, it doesn't seem fair to me to have had to see the same old story once again and not say anything.
Seriously, some romance stories are fun, they make you laugh, they are enjoyable despite being cliché, they make you have a good time, but I didn't like this one even for that. I think I only watched it because of my discomfort and because I didn't want to get into complicated stories.
Lo primero que debo decir es que al inicio de esta película ya todo me parecía absurdo, empieza con el funeral de su madre dónde todos están vestidos nada más y nada menos que de naranja, después de todo su mamá era una mujer muy diferente y esto debe quedar claro.
No solo eso, sino que le pide a su hija que viaje a Italia, ya que en Roma ella encontró cosas buenas para su vida y tiene la esperanza de que su hija cambie su manera de ser y de ver las cosas.
Para mí fue muy extraño ver a Lina de lo más tranquila en el funeral, y aún más raro que su madre pareciera vidente. No solo sabía que su hija le iba a hacer caso de ir a Roma inmediatamente después de su muerte, sin tiempo de procesar ni asimilar nada, sino que allí encontraría lo que no sabía que estaba buscando pero necesitaba.
Dejando esto de lado, nos centramos en la aventura de Lina en Italia, un lugar donde todos tienen que hablar inglés para ella, porque ella a pesar de ser la mejor de su clase en italiano no hace el mínimo esfuerzo por acoplarse a este país y a su gente.
En algunas partes nos dan a entender que entiende el idioma pero casi todos los diálogos son en inglés, lo cual no me pareció del todo. Pero bueno, dejando esto de lado también, Lina recibe un diario de parte de su madre.
El diario lo tenía la que fue su mejor amiga en Italia, que lo recibió desde la distancia porque su mamá fue incapaz de dárselo y porque también fue incapaz de hablarle de su vida en Italia, su pasado, y hasta de su padre. Después de todo, es lo que todos los padres harían.
Así que Lina tiene la tarea de saber, mediante estas páginas, cómo fue la vida de su madre en Italia, antes de que ella naciera, lo demás es historia.
Mientras, conoce a un chico de lo más interesante por tener ojos azules, una familia de las más acaudaladas en Italia y un presente muy tormentoso porque su padre nada más y nada menos le prohíbe estudiar lo que él quiere y ser feliz.
¿Que habíamos visto este personaje antes en muchas producciones? No, no, no. Bueno, sí. De hecho, el personaje de Lina también es súper común e incluso más exasperante.
The first thing I must say is that at the beginning of this film everything seemed absurd to me, it starts with the funeral of his mother where everyone is dressed in nothing more and nothing less than orange, after all his mother was a very different woman and this should be clear.

It was very strange for me to see Lina looking so calm at the funeral, and even stranger that her mother seemed to be clairvoyant. Not only did she know that her daughter was going to make her case for going to Rome immediately after her death, without time to process or assimilate anything, but that there she would find what she didn't know she was looking for but needed.
Leaving this aside, we focus on Lina's adventure in Italy, a place where everyone has to speak English for her, because despite being at the top of her class in Italian, she does not make the slightest effort to adapt to this country and its people.
In some parts we are given to understand the language but almost all the dialogues are in English, which didn't seem to me at all. But well, leaving this aside as well, Lina receives a diary from her mother.
The diary was kept by her best friend in Italy, who received it from a distance because her mother was unable to give it to her and because she was also unable to tell her about her life in Italy, her past, and even her father. After all, that's what all parents would do.
So Lina has the task of finding out, through these pages, what her mother's life was like in Italy, before she was born, the rest is history.
In the meantime, she meets a very interesting boy with blue eyes, one of the wealthiest families in Italy and a very stormy present because his father, nothing more and nothing less, forbids him to study what he wants and to be happy.
That we had seen this character before in many productions? No, no, no. Well, yes. In fact, Lina's character is also super common and even more infuriating.
Es la protagonista y realmente me cayó mal. Desde un comienzo la muestran como una persona obsesiva y controladora, nada arriesgada ni espontánea, a la que no le importa ser una «chica cool» y por eso no tiene redes ni sabe andar en tacones, pero ya sabemos que todo eso está a punto de cambiar por los personajes que colocan en su camino.
No es esto lo que me molesta de ella, aunque también se ha visto en muchas producciones. Pero no solo se fijan en ella los chicos más rebeldes y aventureros (todo lo contrario a ella) sino que su hada madrina, digo madrina, la enseña a andar en tacones y la viste bonito para citas que no pidió ir. Después de todo Lina no sabe decir que NO. Ni al chico problemático que se inventa citas y que ya está enamorado de ella solo por haberla visto dos veces, ni a la madrina que no entiende que quiere vestirse con Crocs. "Supuestamente".
En fin, odié mucho que Lina llegara a Italia siendo esta chica imperturbable y cuando conoce a un chico de pronto no sabe cómo actuar ni comportarse. No disimularon ni un poco al decirnos que en Italia iba a vivir su historia de amor. Creo que me están dando ganas de ir a Roma. 🙄
Aparte del personaje, lo que más me pareció desesperante e irritante fueron las expresiones de la actriz, su titubeo, su manera de intentar abrir la boca para hablar y luego cerrarla nuevamente para no decir nada o negar con la cabeza.
No tengo idea de si me molestó la actriz, el personaje o ambas pero más que ser un personaje tan igual a otros a los que estamos acostumbrados fue incluso más irritante.
¿Que sería una historia de romance cliché sin un triángulo amoroso que haga dudar a la protagonista entre una y otra persona? En el guión aparece un chico diferente al engreído y súper bonito primer aspirante a ser novio de Lina, el típico chico que este tipo de mujeres dejan en la friendzone porque están convencidas de que el patán va a cambiar por su amor. Lorenzo.
La manera de conocerlo, como siempre, es que está en apuros y no existe nadie más en el mundo que él, la persona que la ayuda. :)
Bueno, al menos la historia tuvo un pequeño giro y es que Lina no intenta cambiar a Alessandro, sino que se aleja de él y decide cambiar ella. Al menos.
El punto es que la manera de alejarse de Alessandro me pareció patética, pues después de ser caballero y amigable, ponen a este personaje como un tonto que debe decir todo lo que no se debe decir para que Lina termine alejándose de él de una vez por todas.
Me pareció super desesperada su actitud, y muy forzada. Cómo si era lo que Lina necesitaba escuchar para dejarlo de frecuentar. Después de eso, descubre que Alessandro no vale la pena y va a buscar a Lorenzo en una moto que no es suya, la cual tiene la llave misteriosamente puesta en el contacto, y para colmo maneja ella, como si supiera manejar.
Perdón por el spoiler pero llega a la estación de trenes, siempre hay una estación o un aeropuerto y una persona corriendo y desesperada por encontrar a otra, solo que esta vez Lina le dice que se elegirá a sí misma.
Tanto correr y buscar a Lorenzo para rechazarlo. 😆 Es gracioso. Moraleja del cuento: hay que encontrarse primero para poder amar a alguien más. Por eso, cuando vuelve Lorenzo, ella es una persona totalmente diferente y ahora sí está lista para iniciar una relación.
Después de todo, sí terminó eligiendo a uno. 🤷 Por un momento pensé que se quedaría sola, independiente, empoderada. Ja, ja, ja. A estos personajes nunca los hacen para estar solteros, por más que quieran hacerte reflexionar.
Pero sí tengo que decir algo bueno de esta película. Los paisajes y lugares de Italia la hacen ser una película visualmente bonita y relajante. Lo otro, las canciones que eligieron para usarlas en este film.
Solo eso me agradó. Del resto, ya estoy bastante cansada de las mismas historias, de los mismos personajes y de las mismas «moralejas». Culpa mía por verla y por esperar que esta vez fuera diferente.
Creí que por estar enferma mi opinión no iba a ser tan dura, ni mi expectativa alta, pero creo que más bien por eso tengo poca paciencia y terminé algo enojada. 😆
Así que, sí, podría ser que a alguien le guste esta película, como a mi amiga. Y sacando de lado todas las incongruencias que encontré, o lo repetitiva de la historia, quizá sea tan disfrutable como otras historias de amor y un poquito más por tratar el tema de cambiar tu visión del mundo.
Pero si quisiera un personaje o una historia como esta, elegiría mejor la película «yo antes de ti» basada en el libro de Jojo Moyes. Diferente, bonita y muy reflexiva.

She is the main character and I really disliked her. From the beginning they show her as an obsessive and controlling person, not at all risky or spontaneous, who doesn't care about being a "cool girl" and that's why she doesn't have fishnets or know how to walk in heels, but we already know that all that is about to change because of the characters they put in her way.
This is not what bothers me about her, although it has also been seen in many productions. But not only does she get noticed by the more rebellious and adventurous guys (quite the opposite of her) but her fairy godmother, I mean godmother, teaches her to walk in heels and dresses her nicely for dates she didn't ask to go on. After all, Lina doesn't know how to say NO. Neither to the troubled boy who invents dates and is already in love with her just for having seen her twice, nor to the godmother who doesn't understand that she wants to wear Crocs. "Allegedly".
Anyway, I really hated that Lina came to Italy being this unflappable girl and when she meets a guy she suddenly doesn't know how to act or behave. They didn't dissemble one bit by telling us that in Italy she was going to live out her love story. I think I'm getting the urge to go to Rome. 🙄
Apart from the character, what I found most desperate and irritating were the expressions of the actress, her hesitation, her way of trying to open her mouth to speak and then closing it again to say nothing or shaking her head.
I have no idea if I was annoyed by the actress, the character or both but rather than being a character so much like others we are used to it was even more irritating.
What would a cliché romance story be without a love triangle that makes the protagonist hesitate between one person and the other? The script features a guy who is different from Lina's cocky and super cute first would-be boyfriend, the typical guy that this kind of women leave in the friendzone because they are convinced that the jerk is going to change for their love. Lorenzo.
The way to meet him, as always, is that she is in trouble and there is no one else in the world but him, the person who helps her. :)
Well, at least the story had a little twist and that is that Lina doesn't try to change Alessandro, but she moves away from him and decides to change herself. At least.
The point is that the way to get away from Alessandro seemed pathetic to me, because after being gentlemanly and friendly, they put this character as a fool who must say everything that should not be said so that Lina ends up getting away from him once and for all.
I found his attitude super desperate, and very forced. Like it was what Lina needed to hear to stop hanging around him. After that, she discovers that Alessandro is not worth it and goes to look for Lorenzo on a motorcycle that is not his, which has the key mysteriously put in the ignition, and to top it off she drives it, as if she knows how to drive.
Sorry for the spoiler but she arrives at the train station, there is always a station or an airport and one person running and desperate to find another, only this time Lina tells her that she will choose herself.
So much running and looking for Lorenzo to reject him. 😆 It's funny. Moral of the story: you have to find yourself first in order to love someone else. So when Lorenzo comes back, she's a totally different person and now she's ready to start a relationship.
She did end up choosing one after all. 🤷 For a moment I thought she would be left alone, independent, empowered. Ha ha ha ha. These characters are never made to be single, no matter how much they want to make you think.
But I do have to say one good thing about this film. The landscapes and locations in Italy make it a visually beautiful and relaxing film. The other thing, the songs they chose to use in this film.
That alone pleased me. As for the rest, I'm pretty tired of the same stories, the same characters and the same "morals". My fault for watching it and hoping it would be different this time.
I thought that because I was sick my opinion was not going to be so harsh, nor my expectation high, but I think that's rather why I have little patience and ended up a bit angry. 😆
So, yes, it could be that someone might like this movie, like my friend. And putting aside all the incongruities I found, or how repetitive the story is, maybe it's as enjoyable as other love stories and a little bit more for dealing with the theme of changing your world view.
But if I wanted a character or a story like this, I would better choose the movie "me before you" based on the book by Jojo Moyes. Different, beautiful and very thoughtful.

Vi el tráiler hace unos días y no, no llamo mi atención. el libro si creo que es muy popular y tuvo bastante éxito entre los amantes de este genero, pero he leído otras reseñas negativas de la película.
A mi me ha pasado que a veces hago review de una película que no me gusto y me salen hasta mas largas XD
Eso es así, uno se alaga hablando de cosas negativas. Uy, respeto mucho a las personas que les gustó, pero... 😆 Jajaja yo le mandé muchas notas a la amiga que me la recomendó diciéndole todo lo que no había gustado, que fueron más cosas de las que hable en la publicación AJAJAJA
La película es terrible. Tienes toda la razón sobre Lina, su personalidad hace que sea 0 simpática y por ende no puedes sentir simpatia por ella. No se que le pasó a Netflix🥺🙈

Vi la película, y también me dio rabia que se fuera de la fiesta, después de rechazar a Alessandro, para irse a rechazar a Lorenzo, de la forma más estúpida del mundo. No me hubiera molestado tanto, si le hubiera dicho todo eso ANTES y no fuera a la estación a verlo. Pero claro, me gustó la idea del viaje a Italia y todo el drama en descubrir quién es su padre.
