Some films manage to captivate because of the message they convey and the way they delve into sensitive issues with a deep human character.
In the case of "Sound of Metal", I must emphasize that the plot moved me greatly, since it deals with a case of physical and mental illness of a person who suddenly loses his sense of hearing.
Motivated by high-decibel sonic exposure, this led to a ruptured eardrum, affecting the individual's physical and mental health, in addition to impacting all other aspects of his life, leading him to reinvent himself and seek a solution in a hurry.

Algunas películas logran cautivar por el mensaje que trasmiten y la forma de incursionar en temas sensibles de profundo carácter humano.
En el caso de "Sound of Metal", debo resaltar que la trama me ha conmovido en gran manera, ya que aborda un caso de padecimiento físico y mental de una persona que pierde súbitamente el sentido auditivo.
Motivado a la exposición sónica a altos decibeles, esto derivó en una ruptura de tímpano, afectando la salud física y mental del individuo, además de impactar en todos los demás aspectos de su vida, conduciéndolo a reinventarse y buscar con premura alguna solución.

My personal opinion
The film is about a couple of rockers who make up a rock band, being the protagonist, the drummer of the group and his girlfriend the guitarist and vocalist.
They have a music project with which they intend to survive, giving concerts in the region of their country and earning income from their art and fans. A rather delusional project, despite the fact that everything points to good results.
At the beginning of the film, I was prepared to see a musical film. Taking into account the cover image, which is nothing more than the image of a rock drummer sitting on a huge battery looking like he is going to give his best heavy metal concert.
Also guided by the emblematic name of the movie "Sound of Metal", which alludes to the musical current of heavy rock.
Immediately, I settled in front of the TV and thought: It must be a musical!, A rock musical! Ok, good for that!.
I imagined a work in the best style of Bohemian Rhapsody in tribute to Freddie Mercury, The Door, a tribute to Jim Morrison or Rocketman, based on the life and musical rise of singer Elton John. Movies that I have had the opportunity to see and they are excellent musicals that are worth their weight in gold.
Mi opinión personal
La película se trata de una pareja de rockeros que conforman una banda de rock, siendo el protagonista, el baterista del grupo y su novia la guitarrista y vocal.
Ellos tienen un proyecto de música con el cual pretenden subsistir, dando conciertos en la región de su país y obteniendo ingresos a partir de su arte y fanaticada. Un proyecto bastante iluso, a pesar, que todo apunta a dar buenos resultados.
Al principio de la película, yo estaba preparado para ver un film musical. Tomando en cuenta la imagen de portada, que no es más, que la imagen de un baterista rockero sentado en una batería descomunal con aspecto de que va a dar su mejor concierto de heavy metal.
También guiado por el emblemático nombre de la película "Sound of Metal", que alude a la corriente musical del rock pesado.
Inmediatamente, me instalé frente a la TV y pensé: ¡Seguro se trata de un musical!,¡un musical de rock! ¡Ok, bien por eso!.
Imaginé un trabajo al mejor estilo de Bohemian Rhapsody en tributo a Freddie Mercury, The Door, tributo a Jim Morrison o Rocketman, basada en la vida y ascenso musical del cantante Elton John. Películas que he tenido la oportunidad de ver y son excelentes musicales que valen su peso en oro.
Developing

Desarrollo
Fue mi sorpresa, que si bien, el protagonista y su novia integran una banda de rock en ascenso, dedicados a dar conciertos en la escena underground con un estilo rockero bien marcado, aun así, el guión de la película contrasta con un tema mucho más profundo lo cual me tomó inadvertido.
En sí, el tema desarrollado en el guión comprende la lesión auditiva que sufre el joven baterista, así como, el trauma que conlleva a la aceptación de su padecimiento.
La desmejora de su calidad de vida, el decaimiento de autoestima. También, los esfuerzos para tratarse la enfermedad y costear los gastos de la cirugía que promete mejorar su condición.

Así mismo, hace énfasis en su posterior rehabilitación en un centro de asilo para personas en condición de pérdida del sentido auditivo y también pérdida del habla (sordomudos).
No sabría decir en que momento olvidé por completo la idea de intentar ver una película de rock. Ahora estaba sumergido en el trama profundo y a la vez delicado, el cual lleva por emblema la superación personal. La lucha por mantener el balance de la salud como el tema más importante que siempre va de primero, por encima de cualquier otra cosa.
An impressive script
This movie made a 360° turn according to my expectations, leaving me trapped, in a super interesting story to which I give a 10/10 on the rating scale, according to its creative power, realism and human character.
Continuing the moving script of the film and its uplifting drama, I bring into place the scene when the subject feels the anomaly of his injury for the first time and in a state of total confusion assumes that it is a passing thing and prefers to keep it to himself.
However, once in his room, when he wakes up the next day, he discovers that he hears absolutely nothing. Not even the most common and close sounds such as his instruments, his own footsteps, the noise of a domestic appliance such as the blender or the music playing on the turntable.
Un guión impactante.
Esta película dio un giro de 360° grados de acuerdo a mis expectativas, dejándome atrapado, en una historia super interesante a la cual le doy un 10/10 en la escala de valoración, de acuerdo a su poder creativo, realismo y carácter humano.
Continuando con el guión conmovedor de la película y su drama edificante, traigo a lugar la escena cuando el sujeto siente la anomalía de su lesión por primera vez y en un estado de confusión total supone que se trata de algo pasajero y prefiere reservárselo.
Sin embargo, una vez en su aposento, al despertar el día siguiente, descubre que no escucha absolutamente nada, ni aun los sonidos más comunes y cercanos como el de sus instrumentos, sus propios pasos, el ruido de un artefacto doméstico como la licuadora o la música que suena en el tocadiscos.

Scenes that shocked me
I remember being shocked by the scene when the specialist doctor does a hearing evaluation using professional equipment, determining that he has lost more than 75% of his hearing in both ears and adding that the damage is progressive and irreversible.
Another of the most moving and at the same time most impressive scenes is when the drummer decides to make a great effort and continue the concert tour.
Going up to the stage completely deaf and executing the musical pieces with the simple creative memory and the vague memory of the structure of the songs, which makes him soon begin to fail in his interpretation and the rock band has to definitively suspend the presentations.
Entonces, sumergido en un mundo de silencio, reconoce la gravedad de su situación y decide confesarlo a su novia, quién también se queda anonada y recurre a buscar ayuda instantáneamente.
A estas alturas pude ver que los dos personajes principales, el protagonista y su novia, a pesar de llevar una vida bastante improvisada, ya que viven en un pequeño trailer con el mínimo recurso, en el cual andan de gira dando conciertos entre ciudades.
Aun así, demuestran tener gran sentido de responsabilidad de sus actos tomando rápidamente la solución más adecuada como lo es la búsqueda de ayuda profesional para tratar el problema auditivo.
Escenas que me impactaron
Recuerdo que me impactó muchísimo la escena cuando el médico especialista le hace una evaluación auditiva utilizando equipos profesionales, determinando que ha perdido más del 75% de la audición en ambos oídos y añadiendo que el daño es progresivo e irreversible.
Otra de las escenas más conmovedoras y a la vez más impactantes, es cuando el baterista decide hacer un gran esfuerzo y continuar la gira de conciertos.
Subiendo a la tarima completamente sordo y ejecutando las piezas musicales con la simple memoria creativa y el recuerdo vago de la estructura de las canciones, lo que hace que pronto comience a fallar en su interpretación y la banda de rock tenga que suspender definitivamente las presentaciones.
Example of a real life case
I am incredibly pleased to have come across this film that is so truthful, raw and exemplary at the same time.
It has motivated me to open a small parenthesis to briefly recount a personal experience related to a similar case but without such devastating consequences:
For long consecutive years I dedicated myself to the musical art of heavy rock. I was a vocal guitarist and songwriter for a heavy metal band. In this way I was exposed to long rehearsal sessions and live performances without wearing any type of hearing protection to counteract the high decibel shrill sound frequencies, as well as the impact that acoustic percussion generates on the musician's ears, specifically, the one corresponding to heavy rock bands where sound distorters and saturated or persistent drums are used. The result was partial hearing loss in one of my ears which affected my development as a musician since I did not perceive sounds effectively and from there I had to move away from the movement of rock bands, even to this day I continue suffering from this condition since an eardrum injury usually represents irreversible physical damage.
Ejemplo de un caso de la vida real
Me complace increíblemente haberme topado con esta película tan veraz, cruda y ejemplar al mismo tiempo.
Me ha motivado a abrir un pequeño paréntesis para contar de forma breve una experiencia personal relacionada con un caso parecido pero sin consecuencias tan devastadoras:
Durante largos años consecutivos yo me dediqué al arte musical del rock pesado. Fui guitarrista vocal y compositor de una banda de heavy metal. De esta forma me expuse a largas sesiones de ensayo y a presentaciones en vivo sin usar ningún tipo de protección auditiva para contrarrestar las frecuencias de sonido estridente de alto decibel, así como, el impacto que genera la percusión acústica en los oídos del músico, específicamente, al correspondiente a las bandas de rock pesado donde se usan distorsionadores de sonido y baterías saturadas o persistentes. El resultado fue, perdida parcial de la audición en uno de mis oídos lo cual afectó mi desarrollo como músico ya que no percibía los sonidos efectivamente y de ahí tuve que alejarme del movimiento de las bandas de rock, inclusive, hasta el día de hoy sigo padeciendo esa condición ya que por lo regular una lesión de tímpano representa un daño físico irreversible.
Outcome

In this way the young drummer learns to speak sign language, as well as meditation techniques to control the anxiety generated by his situation. He performs some trades within the commune and shares his knowledge of music, rhythm and percussion with the other members of the group.
Finally, manages to sell the mobile trailer (transport vehicle) of his property and thus raises the necessary money to undergo the hearing implant, however, he presented a certain rejection of the device while recognizing that at this point his life had changed forever. He had no choice but to accept things as they are and face his destiny without stopping.
Desenlace
Me llamó especialmente la atención la existencia de una organización tan vital como la casa de convivencia donde el personaje de la película ingresa a tratar su problema. Es una comuna apartada de la sociedad dirigido por personas con condiciones especiales tanto auditivas como del habla.
En ese sitio le enseñan al paciente a comprender su padecimiento y aprender herramientas para incorporarse a la vida productiva teniendo en cuenta sus limitaciones.
De este modo el joven baterista aprende a hablar lenguaje de señas, así como, técnicas de meditación para controlar la ansiedad generada por su situación. Desempeña algunos oficios dentro de la comuna y comparte sus conocimientos musicales, rítmica y percusión con los demás miembros del grupo.
Finalmente, logra vender el trailer móvil (vehículo de transporte) de su propiedad y así reúne el dinero necesario para someterse al implante auditivo, sin embargo, presentó cierto rechazo al dispositivo al tiempo que reconoció que a estas alturas ya su vida había cambiado para siempre. No le quedó más que aceptar las cosas tal cual como son y enfrentar su destino sin detenerse.
Final Thoughts
As a final thought, I would like to say that this film has been one of the best experiences I have had on the giant screen.
He let me see that the director knew how to deal with the issue of the existential problem that a person can face when suffering from a supervening illness and, above all, the need to get ahead in a struggle for personal improvement and adaptation to the new way of life that he has to experience from a physiological trauma.
This new incursion into the world of cinema was a complete success, which allows me to see life in a different way and prepares me morally to face life and its changes.
Pensamientos finales
Como pensamiento final quiero decir que este film ha sido una de las mejores experiencias que me he llevado de la pantalla gigante.
Me dejó ver que el director supo como tratar el tema de la problemática existencial que puede llegar a enfrentar una persona ante el padecimiento de una enfermedad sobrevenida y por sobre todo la necesidad de salir adelante en una lucha por la superación personal y la adecuación al nuevo modo de vida que le toca experimentar a partir de un trauma fisiológico.
Fue todo un éxito esta nueva incursión en el mundo del cine lo cual me deja ver la vida de otra forma y me prepara moralmente para enfrentar la vida y sus cambios.

Está es una de las mejores películas que he visto, la actuación de Ahmed es brutal como la de Paul Raci que interpreta a "Joe" quien es un muy gran personaje; no puedo dejar atrás a Olivia que en sus dos momentos importantes del film es también clave en lo que debe vivir Ruben.
Sabes que a primer momento tome este film como uno en dónde personas dependientes de drogas y de relaciones amorosas deben hacerse fuerte para poder aceptarse y avanzar; claro que esa transición justamente de aceptación es más difícil para Rubén que sabe que no puede competir con la "verdadera" vida de Lou y por eso hace todo lo posible para ser el viejo Rubén, para regresar a su antigua normalidad y es por eso que cuando ocurre el desenlace se hace tan pacífico.
