Guillermo del Toro is a director that I like because of his way of being; at least in the interviews and others, I wanted to see it as soon as I found out about its existence, because of work I didn't have the time to see it as quickly as I wanted, but I finally finished it and I would like to talk about it.
I saw Guillermo del Toro's cabinet of curiosities as a possible series by several directors or writers, it seems to me a good installment to vary the visions of other people, but for the moment, it is only a series for this Mexican director. With eight chapters I was entertained as much as I was bored in others, in addition to being surprised by the actors selected for some chapters, it was undoubtedly a roller coaster of emotions, both for the stories, the way they are told, and their protagonists, and how it should be, I must talk about each chapter, at least a little, to be able to express myself better.
Lot 36 is the first chapter, it is a simple and direct story, but just as impressive, it is the best proposal to be the first chapter because it is not as amazing as other chapters, but it is not the most mediocre chapter either, it talks about a man in debt who ends up buying an abandoned warehouse that had sacrificial books, I couldn't categorize the chapters because I would have to think about it too much, but this one in particular would be in the middle of my list.
Cemetery rats, its second chapter, telling the story of a grave robber, this is one of my favorites, because you feel the terror and see it firsthand, the characters are colorful, it gives the story more fantasy, it is one of my favorites because I felt the terror of the main character, which is a victory when it comes to telling a story.
The autopsy, this could be my second favorite chapter perhaps, just because I already know which one is my favorite, telling the story of a coroner who must perform an autopsy on a strange criminal, leads us to a story full of surprises, chills and curiosities.
On the outside, running into the first chapter that I did not like in the series, perhaps its simplicity or its lack of terror, it deals with the concern of some women for their appearance and how that can lead them to see a more dangerous terror than monsters in your room, the chapter covers more the madness of its main character than the fear she feels, even her monster is simple.
Model, I wanted to see this chapter because it was always on the cover of Netflix, with a protagonist that we saw being the villain in The Punisher or being Prince Caspian in Narnia, it shows how a painter ends up having nightmares from seeing the art of another fellow artist, "paint what you see" is what is reflected in this chapter, because not all of us have the same vision of the world, it is philosophical and beautiful how they try to show that not everyone lives their lives seeing life in colors, but surrounded by monsters, being this chapter based on a story written by H.P Lovecraft.
Dreams in the Witch's House is an episode that could have easily been a full two-hour movie, but they managed to make it in an hour or less, after a set of twins were separated by the death of the girl, his brother dedicates his life to spiritualism and the supernatural. It's entertaining, intriguing, terrifying if you want to watch it, an excellent chapter.
The inspection, seventh chapter of the series and the second chapter that I did not like, perhaps because of the same problem as On the outside, being very simple or perhaps very slow, showing a bit of terror that does not last even 10% of the chapter and which doesn't make much of an impact, I didn't get it any appeal, as four individuals from different professional fields are called by a rich man who wishes to collect talents.
The Murmur, the last chapter of the series, and I think the worst chapter for me, could have been the characters or the same horror story told in other films, based on the story of a couple that documents birds on a small island with a house abandoned, it is, more than we have already seen in other deliveries.
Starting off amazing and ending badly in my humble opinion, it has its ups and downs, it's the same way, a series that I enjoyed and kept me in love from start to finish, even so I didn't like some chapters, it's still something that would recommend to others.
Guillermo del Toro es un director que me gusta por su forma de ser; al menos en las entrevistas y demás, quise verla apenas supe de su existencia, por el trabajo no tuve el tiempo de verla tan rápido como quise, pero por fin la termine y quisiera hablar sobre ella.
El gabinete de curiosidades de Guillermo del Toro lo vi como una posible serie de varios directores o escritores, me parece una buena entrega para ir variando las visiones de otras personas, pero por los momentos, es solo una serie para este director mexicano. Con ocho capítulos me entretuve tanto como me aburrí en otros, ademas de sorprenderme con los actores seleccionados para algunos capítulos, fue sin dudas una montaña rusa de emociones, tanto por las historias, la forma de contarlas, como sus protagonistas, y como debería ser, debo hablar de cada capitulo, al menos un poco, para poder expresarme mejor.
Lote 36 es el primer capitulo, es una historia simple y directa, pero igual de impactante, es la mejor propuesta para ser el primer capitulo porque no es tan asombrosa como otros capítulos, pero tampoco es su capitulo más mediocre, habla de un hombre endeudado que termina comprando un deposito abandonado que tenia libros de sacrificios, no podría categorizar los capítulos porque tendría que pensarlo demasiado, pero este en particular estaría en el medio de mi lista.
Ratas de cementerio, su segundo capitulo, contando la historia de un ladrón de tumbas, este es uno de mis favoritos, porque se siente el terror y se ve en carne propia, los personajes son coloridos, le da más fantasía a la historia, es uno de mis favoritos porque sentí el terror del personaje principal, siendo eso una victoria en lo que respecta contar una historia.
La autopsia, podría ser este mi segundo capitulo favorito tal vez, solo porque ya se cual es mi favorito, contando la historia de un forense que debe hacer una autopsia a un criminal extraño, nos lleva a una historia repleta de sorpresas, escalofríos y curiosidades.
Por fuera, topandome con el primer capitulo que no me gusto de la serie, tal vez su simpleza o su falta de terror, trata sobre la preocupación de algunas mujeres por su apariencia y como eso puede llevarlas a ver un terror más peligroso que monstruos en tu habitacion, el capitulo abarca más la locura de su personaje principal que el miedo que siente, incluso su monstruo es, simple.
Modelo, quise ver este capitulo porque salia siempre en la portada de Netflix, con un protagonista que vimos siendo el villano en The Punisher o siendo el príncipe Caspian en Narnia, muestra como un pintor termina teniendo pesadillas por ver el arte de otro compañero artista, "pinta lo que ves" es lo que se plasma en este capitulo, porque no todos tenemos la misma visión del mundo, es filosófico y hermoso como tratan de mostrar que no todos viven su vida viendo la vida de colores, sino rodeados de monstruos, siendo este capitulo basado en una historia escrita por H.P Lovecraft.
Sueños en la casa de bruja es, un capitulo que podría haber sido fácilmente una película completa de dos horas, pero que se las arreglaron para hacerla en una hora o menos, después de que una pareja de mellizos fueran separados por la muerte de la niña, su hermano se dedica su vida al espiritismo y lo sobrenatural. Es entretenida, intrigante, terrorífica si se quiere ver, un capitulo excelente.
La inspección, séptimo capitulo de la serie y segundo capitulo que no me gustó, tal vez por el mismo problema que Por Fuera, siendo muy simple o tal vez muy lenta, mostrando un poco de terror que no dura ni el 10% del capitulo y que no impacta demasiado, no le conseguí ningún atractivo, tratándose de cuatro individuos de diferentes campos profesionales son llamados por un hombre rico que desea coleccionar talentos.
El Murmullo, ultimo capitulo de la serie, y creo que peor capitulo para mí, podrán haber sido los personajes o la misma historia de terror contada en otras películas, basándose en la historia de una pareja que documenta aves en una pequeña isla con una casa abandonada, es, más de lo que ya hemos visto en otras entregas.
Empezando increíble y cerrando de mala manera según mi humilde opinión, tiene sus altos y sus bajos, es de igual manera, una serie que disfrute y me mantuvo enamorado de principio a fin, aun así no me hayan gustado algunos capítulos, sigue siendo algo que recomendaría a otros.

Guillermo no solo es un genio del horror, sino alguien que parece comprender el cine en general desde un punto de vista muy interesante. Esta antología es genial, a pesar de que solo he visto los primeros capítulos me parece maravilloso que sirva de plataforma para que tantos cineastas expongan sus ideas, arranca con muchísima fuerza.
Espero que si sea posible eso de que sea como una serie para que varios directores muestren sus ideas de esa manera, seria muy entretenido y muchos esperarían la siguiente temporada.
