Soul is a Pixar production animated movie that was released in 2020. I know a lot of people have seen this movie but I just saw it some days ago. I was looking for something to watch and this has been on my device for so long that I just decided to settle for it. I wasn't expecting anything out of this movie and I wasn't also expecting any disappoinment from a Pixar production.
This movie tells the story of Joe Gardener who has a dream of becoming a jazz pianist. Joe, in his middle ages, still hasn't gotten the gig that'll change his life until he is contacted by a former student for an opportunity. The path to his dreams seems clear at this point till he gets into an accident which takes his life.
We see how Joe tries so desperately to get back to his body on earth when he finds himself in the great beyond, then later, the great before. Even as Joe gets to earth and finds 22 (the soul he was tasked with helping to finding its "spark") in his body while he's in a body of a cat, all he cares about is being able to perform at the gig he just got and he tries so desperately to find a solution to the particular dilemma.

Estaba buscando algo para ver y esto ha estado en mi dispositivo durante tanto tiempo que decidí conformarme con eso. No esperaba nada de esta película y tampoco esperaba ninguna decepción de una producción de Pixar.
Esta película cuenta la historia de Joe Gardener, quien sueña con convertirse en pianista de jazz. Joe, en su mediana edad, todavía no ha conseguido el trabajo que cambiará su vida hasta que un ex alumno lo contacta para darle una oportunidad. El camino hacia sus sueños parece claro en este punto hasta que sufre un accidente que le quita la vida.
Vemos cómo Joe trata desesperadamente de volver a su cuerpo en la tierra cuando se encuentra en el más allá, luego más tarde, en el antes. Pete Docter did an amazing job in developing the characters in this movie production. The characters are relatable making the movie to to feel personal to the audience. The character of Joe is selfish and so full of himself. All he talks about is jazz music and although he has people who care about him, he has never actually stopped to listen to them for once. With 22, a soul who had no interest in coming to earth and no experience with human emotions, people get to like and relate better with that version of Joe.
This movie highlights some common emotions and realities of human society and the best message I got from this movie is that determination can lead to/be mistaken for selfishness and obsession. Clinging to a dream can really affect so many aspects of a person's life when that dream becomes all they think and care about. The consequence of this is bad relationship with family, friends and people in general.
22 who had no interest of living on earth enjoyed his brief moment as a human that he eventually refused to leave Joe's body. I believe the message this movie passes is that most people are not living their lives, they're just existing. Routines, goals, work, problems, etc can make life very difficult to live. Joe came to realize this after performing at the gig and not feeling any different.
Pete Docter hizo un trabajo increíble al desarrollar los personajes de esta producción cinematográfica. Los personajes son identificables, lo que hace que la película se sienta personal para la audiencia. El personaje de Joe es egoísta y tan lleno de sí mismo. De lo único que habla es de música jazz y aunque tiene gente que se preocupa por él, en realidad nunca se ha detenido a escucharlos ni una sola vez. Con 22 años, un alma que no tenía ningún interés en venir a la tierra y ninguna experiencia con las emociones humanas, a la gente le gusta y se relaciona mejor con esa versión de Joe.
Esta película destaca algunas emociones y realidades comunes de la sociedad humana y el mejor mensaje que obtuve de esta película es que la determinación puede conducir a ser confundida con egoísmo y obsesión. Aferrarse a un sueño realmente puede afectar muchos aspectos de la vida de una persona cuando ese sueño se convierte en todo lo que piensa y en lo que se preocupa. La consecuencia de esto es una mala relación con la familia, los amigos y la gente en general.
22, que no tenía ningún interés en vivir en la tierra, disfrutó de su breve momento como humano y finalmente se negó a abandonar el cuerpo de Joe. Creo que el mensaje que transmite esta película es que la mayoría de las personas no viven sus vidas, simplemente existen. Las rutinas, metas, trabajo, problemas, etc pueden hacer la vida muy difícil de vivir. Joe se dio cuenta de esto después de actuar en el concierto y no sentirse diferente.
I rate this movie an 8/10. I'm not a fan of animated movies but once in a while I see one or two and I can say that this one was worth watching just like a lot of other Pixar production. To close this review let me leave with you some words from a Jerry in this movie: "A spark isn't a soul's purpose oh you mentors and your impressions, your spark is your meaning of life".
Califico esta película con un 8/10. No soy fanático de las películas animadas, pero de vez en cuando veo una o dos y puedo decir que valió la pena ver esta como muchas otras producciones de Pixar. This movie was gorgeous, one of my favorites of recent years. I don't actually watch many animated films from Pixar, but I absolutely loved this one.

Esta película me encantó, la animación es bella y el mensaje que tiene sobre el valor de la vida y de los sueños es importantísimo y muy hermoso. Otra cosa que me gustó mucho fue la música.
Creo que debería hablarse más de este tipo de producciones de Pixar, yo casi no veo que la mencionen en ningún lado y de verdad me parece que es muy buena, una de las mejores que ha sacado últimamente ese estudio.

This movie is one of the few animated classics I would consider. Maybe it was because of its soundtrack.
It does center on the mistakes we humans make in life; the mistake of existing rather than living. It is very easy to make mistakes, especially when one does not take moments to reflect on what matters the most and to be grateful for what one has.
Joe chased after his one dream and that alone, nothing else. When the opportunity to realize his dream finally presents itself, he seizes it at all cost. But on achieving his dream, he sees nothing else beyond that and is now left in a void. Unfortunately, he dies and his whole life is presented before him. Now he realises how he never lived, only existed.
At the end of the rope, there is the other individual that fears living. 22 is a representation of another type of person, contrary to Joe. Joe wanted to live his dream, but at all cost. 22 did not want to live at all because he saw no point in it, and he avoided it at all costs.
I basically learned that one needs to see the essence of living to truly live. However, it is very easy to miss the mark and wind up just existing. In everything, balance should be imperative in every decision and choice we make.
This film is one that teaches a valuable lesson. And it does so in a very subtle yet entertaining manner.
This animation is definitely one that I can see over and over again and still continue to love every part of it. Every detail in the movie was brilliant, and I give kudos to the entire team that brought it to life.
