Part 5/7:
Upon reaching our destination, I had only covered about 307 pages of my eventual goal. I realized that, while I loved the story, the pacing was unachievable amidst travel exhaustion. After a refreshing holiday in San Francisco, I jumped back into Shogun, reinvigorated and eager to explore the remainder of this enthralling tale.
Over the next month, I diligently worked through the book, crossing into its latter chapters with appreciation for Clavell's skillful melding of historical fiction and character-driven narratives. The experience of reading Shogun became akin to journeying through feudal Japan—a place steeped in unexpected twists that kept me coming back for more.
