Much of the movie’s tension unfolds as Shannon becomes a prisoner, a pawn in the couple's dark plan. Throughout her captivity, she experiences horrifying apparitions, including visions of Jackson and other tormented spirits. Unbeknownst to Shannon, the couple engages in satanic rituals, believing these will summon Jackson’s soul back from the dead.
As the rituals progress, the film delves into the ancient texts and occult practices the couple implements. These backstories reveal not only their motivations but also their willingness to sacrifice morality for a chance to reclaim their lost grandchild.
