The narrative becomes more complicated when Aurora discovers that she cannot trust Jonah's handling of their circumstances. After a series of poor choices culminate in a dangerous situation, where they are threatened over unpaid debts, the two must work together to survive. Jonah's reckless gambling, which he viewed as a means of securing a better future, now threatens their very safety and ability to stay together. Tensions flare as subtle generational conflicts come to a head when Jonah struggles to accept responsibility for his actions.
