Part 2/9:
Imagine stepping into a suspended, fully automated train that glides effortlessly 12 meters off the ground. While it may sound like a scene out of a sci-fi film, the reality is that thousands of citizens in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, have embraced this technology in their daily commutes for over a year.
The first of its kind, this monorail features a 10 km long route with six stations, operating from 8 AM to 8 PM with departures every ten minutes. Instead of traditional ground tracks, this unconventional train has its tracks above, all for optimizing urban space where land is limited. With sleek aluminum carriages, built-in energy recovery systems, and panoramic transparent windows, it makes for a vertiginous yet exhilarating ride through parks, lakes, and hills.
