Throughout history, China has exhibited a pattern of obscuring critical health information, as demonstrated during the SARS outbreak in 2003. As this current situation unfolds, many are discovering that China’s initial claims about the virus being contained in Wuhan were misleading. The earliest cases date back to December 1; however, it wasn’t until December 31 that China communicated these findings to the World Health Organization (WHO). Compounding the issue, the government attributed the virus’s origin to a seafood market in Wuhan, despite research indicating many of the early patients had not been in contact with that location.
