The overriding goal is to gradually transition to a transportation system that produces little to no greenhouse emissions. With transportation responsible for 50% of greenhouse gas emissions, California has set ambitious benchmarks. Beginning in 2024, vehicle manufacturers will be required to produce a progressively increasing percentage of ZEVs, culminating in 100% compliance by 2036 for all vehicles over 8,500 pounds—including RVs.
