To date, Tesla primarily employs nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries for their Model 3 and Model Y vehicles sold in the United States. However, the recent deal with Eve Energy opens the door for Tesla to introduce a more economical variant of these popular models. LFP batteries, costing around $51-$53 per kilowatt-hour, are significantly cheaper than the NMC batteries sourced from Panasonic and other suppliers.
