As we approach January 7-9, forecasters are monitoring the potential for winter storms. On the back end of the current trough, more lake effect snow is expected, and a Clipper system could bring light to moderate snowfall across central plains. Increased confidence exists for a larger storm system forming over the weekend, with heavy snowfall and ice becoming viable threats.
While North Texas's chance of experiencing heavy snowfall is still low, areas in northern Arkansas, southern Missouri, and Tennessee could see snow and possibly ice accumulation.
