While WED Enterprises managed the development of Disneyland, which eventually opened with tremendous success in 1955, Walt Disney Productions began to flourish as a result. Though Walt's initiatives seemed self-serving, the broader financial health of his original company benefitted tremendously.
Family Rift and Reconciliation
As Disneyland grew into a cultural phenomenon, tension between the two Disney brothers increased. Roy confronted Walt regarding the financial arrangements, feeling that Walt's actions threatened their familial bond and the integrity of the business. Their arguments culminated in months of silence that strained their relationship. Still, during this turbulent time, Walt’s vision for Disneyland was unwavering.
