In a positive development for those with past criminal records, a new law will expand the opportunities for expungement. Effective January 1, 2025, individuals will be able to apply for the removal of more offenses from their public records than ever before. Previously, the law restricted individuals to two misdemeanor expungements and one felony expungement. The new guidelines will allow for up to three misdemeanor expungements and one felony expungement, enhancing individuals' chances of reintegrating into the workforce and society after serving their sentences.
