Part 6/8:
Having grown up with notions of self-sustainability, Monk longs for more peers to join this community. He has gone so far as to invite homesteaders to settle within the community, vetting those who apply for the opportunity to claim some of the scattered lands. “No tweakers, stable mentally and financially preferably. You know, if you can put in the hard work,” Monk sets the tone for potential newcomers.
There's a palpable sense of urgency in Monk’s words; as many original residents age and pass on, he hopes to cultivate an environment where the younger generation can thrive and perhaps reinvigorate the values underpinning this rugged lifestyle.
