Part 3/9:
Upon closer inspection, I discovered dark soot covering the cave's ceiling, most likely from decades – if not centuries – of inhabitants seeking shelter. I found remnants of ancient life, including scattered bones from unidentified animals and piles of wood that hinted at previous usage. It was a clear indication that many generations had traversed this route.
Having satisfied my curiosity, I continued my ascent, taking in the breathtaking views and encountering wildlife along the way, including a herd of bighorn sheep gracefully grazing by the roadside.
Setting Up Camp
Nighttime came quickly, and I found a perfect camping spot beside a gurgling creek, ideal for collecting fresh water. Dinner consisted of freeze-dried food as I prepared for an early morning hike to catch the sunrise.
