At first glance, it seems counterintuitive that demand for women would not be translated into marriages. An interesting conclusion lies in the notion that men’s demand for women is not inexhaustible. While men might desire companionship, when the expected costs of acquiring a partner become prohibitively high, many opt for a life centered around survival and personal well-being rather than notional relationships. The average man's salary in China, approximately $12,600 per year, makes these marriage demands seem absurd.
