Addressing misconceptions, both agree that much of the debate stems from misunderstandings or misinterpretations of science. For instance, there’s discussion about insulin’s role in obesity; some claim high insulin causes fat gain, but the consensus among the scientists is that overall caloric surplus and inactivity are primary drivers.
They discuss the importance of context: for example, overfeeding fructose or sugars can create metabolic issues if consumed excessively in a caloric surplus. Yet, in controlled calorie deficits, even high sugar intake may not impair health markers significantly.
