The duo recounted some of their ludicrous papers, including one titled "Queer Performativity and Rape Culture in Dog Parks of Portland, Oregon," which examined the sexual behavior of dogs and their owners under the guise of examining societal power structures. They fabricated data, conducted imaginary interviews, and submitted the work, which was accepted and celebrated, even awarded "exemplary scholarship" by the journal on their 25th anniversary.
Another paper, "Feminist Theory and Nazi Propaganda," reappropriated Nazi rhetoric to critique intersectional feminism, intentionally making parallels that were hyperbolic and nonsensical—yet still accepted, illustrating the superficiality of quality checks.
