Part 6/15:
Historically, mythologies served as software—deep narratives that conveyed societal values, morals, and the human condition. Modernity has replaced these rich stories with superficial narratives focused on heroism against depersonalizing forces. Yet, these stories lack the depth and authenticity of traditional myths. Instead, contemporary myths—like those in movies such as Star Wars or The Matrix—depict a plucky band of heroes fighting soul-crushing evil, a modern allegory for the struggle against unfeeling systemic forces. But at their core, these narratives reflect a society disconnected from the divine and rooted in materialism and nihilism.
