However, this was immediately followed by a costly interception, illustrating the ongoing inconsistency at the quarterback position.
The Jets' passing game was also hampered by a lack of receivers willing and able to fight for contested balls. A notable missed opportunity involved Tyler Wilson, who could have made a spectacular catch if he had fought more for the ball. Defensive coverage was tight, and there was a sense that veteran awareness and savvy from Panthers defenders disrupted several Jets' passing attempts.
