Florida has always been a program with lofty standards. The failure to consistently compete at an upper echelon level—especially in a strengthening SEC—made Napier’s tenure difficult to sustain. It’s worth acknowledging, however, that Napier did keep the team competitive at times, and his leadership was crucial during some of their more resilient moments. Fans could point to his ability to rally the team and his recruitment efforts, which kept Florida competitive in the broader landscape.
