Last year alone, humanity installed about 460 gigawatts of solar capacity worldwide, roughly equivalent to one five-acre solar array every minute. The deployment rate has accelerated from a steady 20-25% annual growth to more than 50-55% in recent years. Projecting forward, it’s plausible that by the end of this decade, global installations could reach two, three, or even five terawatts annually—a staggering scale.
