Looking back at his forecast from his 2004 book, "The Next 100 Years," Friedman examines China's economic trajectory. During the late 2000s, China experienced remarkable growth rates of around 14-15%, driven by reforms that relaxed Mao-era restrictions and opened the economy. However, this rapid growth was unsustainable in the long term because it depended heavily on exports and external investments, primarily from the US.
