Contrary to popular perception, natural gas dominates the energy mix over oil for electricity generation. In the U.S., natural gas—along with nuclear, solar, and wind—constitutes the primary sources of power. Much of the natural gas produced in the Permian Basin is currently exported to international markets, particularly Europe, due to geopolitical considerations and global energy demands.
The water used in hydraulic fracturing is another vital component, with individual sites processing approximately 250,000 barrels daily. Advanced water recycling methods and innovations are increasingly enabling the reuse of water, including contributions from local farmers, reducing environmental impact.
